Has anyone experenced a problem at the dentist. I made an appointment for an exam and while I was there they took my BP. 172/103. They were horrified and told me I had to have a normal reading before they would do any work. Like some of you I suffer from white coat and any person with a BP monitor sends my BP into orbit. No way will they ever get anthing thing near normal in their office. How can I get my teeth fixed if no dentist works on folks w/HBP?

Cass - I never heard of a dental office that takes your BP. Maybe they did you a favor, and you need to see your doctor to check it out. I found out my BP was high by having it checked at my pharmacy. My doctor put me on medication.

Cass I would not worry about it, its like white coat hypertension. I would advise buying a quality home bp moniter to determine if you have a problem or not (you probably don't) and finding a dentist that does not take bp and then take a tranquiliser prior to getting dental work done. Also practice some relaxation breathing to try and control the problem. If its any help i have suffered with this problem for 30 year and still alive :blob_fire
