Hi all,

Was hoping you might be able to share with me how long it took for dr to give you a final diagnosis? My mum has had just about every test under the sun but she has to wait another 3 - 4 weeks for them to remove the tumours before a diagnosis is given.. They have not given clear answers regarding test results... Is it normal to take around 6 weeks for a diagnosis...

Wishing you all love and light

Rainbow:
The first move is to biopsy the tumor and/or resect the colon at the same time. The GI who did the colonoscopy should be able to tell you whether he/she believes the tumor is cancerous, however. Final staging, however, generally is done when the pathology report comes back about a week or so after removal of the tumor. What do they tell you they are waiting for? Ask the GI or surgeon his or her impressions as to whether this is cancerous, size, location, etc.

Good Luck,
CancerDad

Thanks CD for replying to my post. Besides the tumours my mum also has to have her right kidney removed due to stone, I dont know whether that affects anything I dont see why it would delay a diagnosis?? I asked the dr what the results of the fluids were and she said that "the particular cells we were looking for werent in the sample we took, however that is not saying that the cells are not there"????? "We will wait for the tumours to be taken out and then we will see what happens after that". Mum is having her tumours taken out aswell as her right kidney during the same operation, apparently about 6-8 hours. Guess we will have to wait and see....

Thanks again for taking the time.
