Hi List,

Has anyone gone over the 28 days they say to use their Forteo? I was BAD last month and didn't take my Forteo along ( for 3 days) on the plane, etc. I had to open my last pen and have to wait to go to the doc this month to get my Forteo renewed. Not sure if I will need the extra meds in my pen now or not. Just wondering if any of you did go over the 28 days and what if anything your doctor or anyone else with knowledge might havae told you about this.

My endo, who I have been going to since November is no longer coming to my town once a week and now I would have to go quite aways ( for me anyway) to get to her. So I am going to find another endo. Actually I did find one closer and made an appt but she cannot take me till the end of Sept. to go to her anyway.

Do any of your doctors ( endo's) in partiular, NOT give you any renewals on your scripts of thyroid and osteo meds? (once you are regulated of course, esp on thyroid and b/p)- Just to make sure you come back I am sure but sometimes that is a pain. She has also done that for me on my b/p meds. I am sure now that I am more or less regulated on my b/p and thyroid meds I could also go to my PCP too. I have my thyroid checked every three months now.

However, I do want to make sure the endo watches my thyroid closely to besides my osteo. My pcp that I love dearly knew I had problems with pain etc. and did sent me to an endo after awhile but used the old numbers on the TSH and thought my TSH was borderline at 5. ? She did start me on thyroid meds slowly which did not help. The endo got me down to 1 plus. I forget the numbers. Still have those symptoms (pain, etc) but also go now to a rheumy who dxed me a couple of months ago with what I already figured out ( FMS/CMFPS). My PCP used to give me a years supply of b/p meds (3 mos presc x 3 refills) but the endo won't do it. Just wondering when I go to the new endo if she will do the smame thing. I guess I can understand the thyroid but not the b/p and Forteo if I am supposed to be on them for two years. Just started in March !

Sorry to get off tract and tell you my life story more or less.. I have had all the other stuff for over 20 years except for the osteoporosis.

I know there a two or three different questions here, sorry !!!

Bye for now.

Blessings !

Hi,
I hope you had a good trip to your reunion in Calif. I've used the Forteo for 29 days a few times mostly from not calculating the dates correctly. But I don't use it past the 28 days recommended.

I"m guilty of forgetting to take my Forteo w/me and thus going 3 days w/o it. (Just once tho). I took it the 3 days past the 28 days since "opening" it. I didn't have any noticeable problems or side effects from doing so. But I also didn't 'fess up to my Endo that I had done so either.

You know tho, these insurance companies can keep track of our compliance taking our meds by how often we refill our scripts.

Yes, the insurance companies - always refill your prescriptions on the correct date even if you have some days left on your pen or your already out. They can trace stuff too easily.
