As you all know, my elderly aunt is in hospital again. they have given her 4 pints of blood, started chemo (chemo is working out great) but she is still losing blood. He has run every test there is and can't find the reason. Colon is fine (she had colon cancer), stool is fine. Says he may do an arteriogram tomorrow and see what that brings. She is so worried. That blood is going somewhere...what other tests are left to do??? They've done them....where could the blood be going??????????? Any help is appreciated.........

Flintrock:
It is obvious that your Aunt MUST be losing blood if she required 4 pints and continues to require blood. IF all obvious things have been checked... wounds, colon, urine, etc, then the only possible place she is bleeding from is her abdomen. Next step should be an exploratory laparoscopy to look at her liver, pancreas, etc. and see if there is any blood in the belly. I wish her all the best.

Good Luck,
CancerDad

Thank you Cancerdad...I value your opinion. She went home today..has to go back thursday to get blood checked again. I will tell her your comments. Sometimes I think doctors don't know what they're doing. Just seems like it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to find out where 2+2 pints of blood are going....thanks again!
:)
