... smoke free! :) I'm 26 and have been smoking for 10 years! This is my very first attempt at quitting, and I quit COLD TURKEY. Surprisingly, it has been the easiest thing in the whole world. I smoked almost a pack a day and much more when drinking.
This thing is, I have a HORRIBLE itchy throat and hacking cough throughout the day. It's worse then the smokers cough I had when I smoked. It's worse at night when I'm lying down.
Is this a symptom or could I just have a common cold? My nose isn't runny and I'm not congested or anything.... it's just a real pain in the butt.

Congratulations!!!! You have made it through one of the toughest times for smokers whom quit. But don't let your guard down for one minute. Avoid alcohol in this early stage since it will most likely be your most vulnerable time.
Your body will continue to heal itself, but it wouldn't hurt to go see a doctor if you can afford it about bothersome persistant symptoms. Those symptoms may be a 'pain in the butt', but not nearly as bad as what you will face should you continue to smoke.
Do a simple google search on 'What Happens After you quit smoking' to see the short and long term benefits, but don't fixate on it. You're currently a non-smoker. Don't consume your time with what once controlled your life. Go out and reward yourself!!! :bouncing:

Hey, thank you so much! I did reward myself yesterday, actually. But at the time, I didn't consider it a reward, more like wasted money. So now I'll have to tell my bf that I was rewarding myself! How great is that! :) Thank you!
