Hi new to this board. This week I have started waking during the night with a tingly sensation in my left arm sometimes both usually when sleeping on my stomach with arms above my head gripping a pillow. Last night it happen when I was on my back, just my left arm. Feeling goes back to normal when I open and close my hands and move my elbow joint. This morning when it happened I reached over and grab my blood pressure machine and got a reading of 101/64 with a pulse of 66. Is this to low? Of course it was probably lower before I moved around to gab the machine and put the cuff on. Please any insight would be helpful!

That's a great blood pressure. From what I've read, most doctors don't seem to worry about blood pressure being too low unless there are symptoms like dizziness, light-headedness, etc. Many people can get down to 90/60 or thereabouts in the daytime without that happening, though some are bothered at a higher pressure. It is normal for BP to run lower during sleep.

I'm inclined to think the tingly sensation you feel is just from sleeping on your arm or from another sleeping position that pinches a nerve. If the sensation goes away when you move, I wouldn't worry about it. If it doesn't, or if you get the sensation during the daytime, then I'd check with a doctor.

BTW, I had temporary low pressures of 100/56 and 93/65 one day about a month ago after a meal. I don't consider it to be any big problem. Low pressures like that do make me feel uncomfortably lethargic, but since I also get pressures that go too high, I really can't do a whole lot about it.

Thanks for the reply. I have not seen anything in print as to what is to low of a blood pressure reading. The tingly feeling doesnot happen during the day. I guess I was just worried because I have been working out lifting and running for 5 weeks now and my pressure has been great, but still on meds (toporol 100mg 2x daily and atacand 16 mg 2x daily). Just thought at some point I could go to low. I see my GP on friday and will update him. Thaks again.

If your pressure tends to be lower than it should in the daytime, too, then your doctor might just want to lower your dose of BP meds. Let us know what he/she says.
