I was recently diagnosed with asthma and I am wondering if anyone else gets
the same symptoms as me. Here they are:
-Shortness of breath, like I need to breath in more air
-Tightness/achiness between shoulders/upper back sometimes mid back too
-Coughing and shortness of breath after laughing hard or during/after excersize
-Feeling an urge to yawn and deeply sigh alot, often.. every single dang day
-Awareness of my breathing often
-Feeling like my stomache is full of air at times
-Worse symptoms with a full stomache
Anyone have these symptoms??

Well, those are the pretty classic symptoms and I woud say all asthma sufferers have at least one or two of these.

I guess the one im wondering about the most is the yawning/sighing thing
it bothers me alot and i am curious if alot of others with asthma have it.
Absolutely!!!! i have attacks several times a day where all i do is yawn adn try to suck in more air so i can breathe confortably.

Really, me too.. i don't know why!
Someone was telling me it was something called hyperventilation disorder but I am hoping its just part of my asthma!!

oh yes!! All of these are normal with asthma. I was diagnosed 2 years ago and I have just about every symptom described here. I also feel like someone has their hand around my throat sometimes and it's really hard to breathe.

It is very comforting to know that other people have the same problems I do. Does anyone else suffer from the side effects of prednisone? Also does anyone know of any other drug that would be less harmful then prednisone? It seems that it is the only thing that helps me but the side effects are killing me.

OMG mystic star, I've had that feeling that it feels like someone has closed off my throat. I had no idea that was asthma, never mentioned it to the doc cause I thought he would just think I was crazy!

my yawning symptom still bothers me even after ventolin. Usually before i take it, i am having trouble yawning or breathing, and after i can breath and yawn better but i still yawn alot. Does that happen to anyone else.

I so feel your pain about the whole yawning thing!!! Not only is it annoying, but it is embarrasing too! I had never said anything(to doc out of fear of her thinking I was nuts) or drew the connection before. I have bad allergies and just attributed to my body fighting off everything I was allergic to, but after seeing an allergist for allergies/asthma I started taking singular, zyrtec and nasonex in addition to starting allergy shots. Since starting all of this I have noticed my yawning has decreased (and it isn't b/c I go to bed any earlier!). It hasn't gone away totally, but away to the point I'm not so embarrassed! My co-workers would always laugh at me (in good fun), b/c I wouldn't be tired, yet I was always yawing- then add in a meeting with the boss! I don't know if I'm drawing the right conclusion, but it seems to make sense.

Be careful with prednisone. My husband has been on and off that med for over 25 years and yes it is needed when none of your other meds help.He has been getting hip pain and they say that the prednisone was the cause plus when on it weight gain and he who is mellow all the time gets short tempered.Only take when you really need it and you have to taper off of it when you stop.
