I am going to Filenes tomorrow to have the cosmetic lady tell me the right shade foundation I should be using. I hate buying it and going by my wrist only have it look wrong. I am thinking of going with clinique. Anyone have any opinions on clinique or would you reccomend a different brand. price is also a factor I don't wanna go broke buying makeup.

me and my mom have been using clinique for a few years now and i love their products as far as skin care: their cleansers, toners, moisturizers and eye cream work great for me! however, i don't too much care for their makeup products like foundation. i don't know, i just wasn't happy with the look and the feel of their foundation on my skin.
when it comes to foundation, i go to Mac. in my opinion, they have the most diverse shades i've ever seen in a makeup department and the quality of the makeup is great--it works well with my skin tone and since i suffer from ezcema, i never have to worry about it affecting any outbreaks i have. i don't remember how much i bought mine for but i don't believe buying one foundation should cost too much.
I used Clinique for many years and I found their liquid cosmetics lines to be diverse enough to take me from my 20's to my 40's. I had no problems with breakouts and the color matches worked well - the reps in the stores seem to be well-versed with the lines due to the training offered them and I always got good advice. The prices for Clinique were lower than Estee Lauder, Dior, Shisedo,... I can't speak to Mac.
I caught "mineral fever" and switched to gloMinerals in my 50's - absolutely love it and wished it had been around earlier. The compacts and loose powders are around $30/$35 here where I buy gloMinerals. This is more than Clinique liquid makeups cost (when I was buying them). I did not care for the Clinique powder, seemed more "talcumy."
Good luck to you - always fun to try something new!

I agree with Asti; Clinique is a terrific line. I've used it for almost 30 years and I've never found anything better. I've noticed, though, that you get better advice if you go to a Clinique rep that's about your age.
Best of all, Clinique has great freebies. Watch the newspaper for local promotions. :)
