What happens if you give thyroid hormone (armour) to someone with un Dx diabetes?

What happens if you give hydrocortisone to someone with unDX diabetes?

Not sure about the thyroid med. just in the process of finding out mine (thyroid) is enlarged with multi nodules. was dx with diabetes 2 1/2 years ago. still diet controlled. have had to take steroids and had injections in the past. makes my glucose go sky high for days. Worked with a woman undiagnosed with diabetes who had pneumonia. hospitalized her and they put her on steroids. ended up on insulin and had a bad paralysis going on for about a month. they got everything under control when the steroids stopped but she is now on diabetes meds.

Are you saying that steroids can raise blood sugar levels?

Absolutely!!!! i had a steroid shot in my shoulder recently and a few days later had to take the six day round. my sugar levels are great for a diabetic well let me tell you i was almost in the dr.s office for an insulin shot. I was in constant contact with my pcp and he said if i started to reach 250 to yell. i didn't go that high but i did hit 200. normal for me fasting is around 109 and after meals 140 so i was really scared.

I am on armour and I dont have diabetes (I have prediabetes). I haven't noticed any change in sugar levels. However, being hypo or hyperthyroid can affect your sugar levels.

i am just finding that out. dr. found an enlarged thyroid with multi nodules. also menopause can truly whack your sugar levels out. that why you have to test your sugar to know if it's the diabetes or something else with the same symptoms.

I have these killer cravings for sugar and/or alcohol. The sugar cravings I've had for many years but the alcohol thing started after going on armour and HC - yet even the smallest amount of alcohol makes me really sick.

Oct. 2004 I was rushed to the hospital - (couldn't tolerate my thyroid meds). During my 8 days stay they checked my blood sugar levels via a finger ***** the first several days. Apparently everything was OK becasue they stopped doing it. Does that mean I cannot have diabetes? Can I do OK on the finger ***** and still have diabetes? I stopped taking my thyroid meds the first few days in the hospital - could it be that I did ok with the finger ***** because I wasn't taking my thyroid meds at the time. It seems like I've had several glocose tests all while I was not taking my armour - do you guys think this is an important factor in the testing process?

I also saw the other posting about morning sweats ....that's me 100% - ever since starting my thyroid meds.

I Think The Combination Of Diabetes Adn Thyroid Problems Is A Real Dilemna. What Cause What. I Am Still In The Process Of Figuring It Out. Still Testing On My Thyroid So I Am Not Sure What Will Be Next. Diabetes Is Diet Controled So No Med There. Had A Routine Colonoscopy Thursday. For Instance This Is Something Simple That Will Mess Me Up For A Week. Had To Fast For 24 Hours. Glucose Was Getting Lower And Lower Through The Night. Couldn't Sleep And When I Dosed Would Make Up 1/2 Hour Later Sweating And Shaking. Well I Made It Through It But Today Is Sat And I'm Still Not Sleeping Right And Waking In The Middle Of The Night Feeling Weird. Everything Adn Anything Throws Your Diabetes Off. It's A Pain In The Butt Sometimes.
