Hello, why isnt the Dr. doing something more than just the medication for your ulcers if they are bleeding?....I had to have transfusions when mine were bleeding and was in hosp. for days.....Have you talked to him recently?...Also, do they dilate your stricture...I have been having mine dilated about every 6 wks lately because it is being very stubborn....I wouldnt wait to long with a bleeding ulcer before I found someone to do something about it......I hope you get better soon......Cathy

I believe if you have an ulcer you are supposed to be on a combo of PPI (like nexium, etc) and an anti-biotic or something not just a PPI. That won't kill the h.pylori.

You should do a search on the internet to see what the common treatments are.

About 85% of peptic ulcers are caused by H. pylori bacteria. The standard test is a blood test and scope of your stomach.

The treatment is to take 2 antibiotics and a PPI for 2 weeks. It's sold in a try pack with a script at drug stores.

A reliable test to determine if the ulcer has been cure is a breath test several weeks after treatment. The bacteria stays in the blood for months after treatment so the blood test is not reliable.

Suzy is right a proton pump inhibitors alone can't kill the bacteria in a short time --- it helps with the closing problem for my wife.
But, that is the way they use to treat ulcers for many years -- with Tagamet type drugs and milk ---- low stomach acid is effective but it takes alot longer.

I wish you well---Harry

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of a natural remedy for Acid Reflux decease?

I was diagnosed with it 3 years ago and was prescribed Previcid. It works great but found I have to take it at the end of the day rather then in the morning because it did bother my stomach A LOT!

Anyway, I have since lost my insurance coverage for perscriptions and the cost is so high that I can't afford to be on it any longer.

I have been off the Previcid for about a year and all my simptoms are coming back worse then they ever were, except now, I am also loosing my voice.

Does anyone know of anything I can use in place of Previcid or Nexium.

Since no one ever responded to me question I started doing some research again. I went to my Doc recently for a routine check up and was sitting in the waiting room waiting to be called, when in one of the racks I saw a "natural remedy for Gerds" pamplet.

The article said that studys have been done over the last 2 years to cure GERDS with Orange Peel Extract and that 97% of the people that took part in the study feel they have cured or gotten their GERDS condition to a normal level. I asked my doctor about it and he gave me the OK to try this remedy as long as I started taking Nexium for at least 3-4 months before trying it to get my ARD under control. (I have acute ARD according to him)

Basically, you take 1 Orange Peel Extract capsule every other day. The only place I could find the capsules was at a health food store and the word must be out about this remedy because they only had 1 package left at a very famous health food store.

I would definatly check with your doctor and get his opinion before trying it and some, maybe even most Doctors would not recommend it because they don't know about it.

If anyone is interested in a copy of the article, I have it and can fax it to you if you send me your fax #.

Yeah laurelo Im doing the orange peel extract and its a WONDER!!!!!! To me its way better than prevacid and nexium (nexium gave me bad diarreah yikes) YOu take one capsule every other day. Oh I feel so good now!!! They are pricey capsules but worth it. But you cannt use them if you have ulcers or you suspect you have ulcers cause it will burn you. That stuff is a must to try.
