In 1989 I was diagnosed with IBS-D.My BM always seemed incomplete. My most troublesome symptom has always been chronic belching.Even when I do not eat.I have a new GI doc(Motility Specialist) and am scheduled to have another endescopy next week.My first one back in "93" showed I had a lot of reflux(I had eaten spicey food the day before with onions, peppers, etc) and 2 Gastric Emptying studies that showed that my stomach was "sluggish" in emptying.I have been taking Zelnorm for the past two weeks but nothing has helped with the belching. One doctor suggested I may have aerophagia.Has anyone been diagnosed or heard of that?Any info would be REALLY appreciated.

Hi there - one question for you. Why did your doctor prescribe Zelnorm (which is for IBS-C) if you have IBS-D? I'm not sure Zelnorm is used for faster gastric emptying, but those on it can better answer that question.

I just don't understand if you have a problem with "D" why a doctor would prescribe a medicine that could worsen it.

Just wondering,
