Hey everyone

So now i'm taking 4mg of Coversyl (ace inhibitor) as well as 25mg of Apo-Hydro (diuretic)..

Since I have started taking them my readings were

145/93 i waited 5 mins 124/79
112/82 a few hours later that day

135/87 I waited 5mins 119/77

134/84 15mins later 126/81

133/83 waited 5mins 118/77

My doctor told me that she was going to start going by my second reading because she said that if you are waiting a couple minutes then your second reading is indeed acurate.

Which is great.

But lately I have been feeling kind of tired... I seem to be alright most of the day but starting in the afternoon I begin to get really drousy to the point where I feel like I could fall on my face and pass out.. and my eyes start to feel almost like a fluttery feeling... does anyone else experience this, i don't know what other way to descibe it but its your eyes feel watery and they kind of feel strained or like a flutter feeling without them actually moving...

is this a symptom of anything? I am just wondering if I am lacking something or if there is any excuse for this tired feeling. It's a different kind of tired then when you haven't slept enough. It's kind of that exhaustion you feel after you just exercised.

Thanks for any insight.

Next doctor's visit have him run your serum potassium and sodium levels. You might be low on one or the other.

Well I just had bloodwork done today I think my doctor was having my "electrolytes" and "kidney's" tested.... so If i'm not mistaken electrolytes encompasses serum potassium and sodium right?

Is that a common symptom for a deficiency in one of the above?

Could be a lot of things- was it after a meal? If so, some people get reactive hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and some people get postrandial hypotension (low blood pressure) after meals. Or maybe you were just tired- the Spanish take siestas after meals for a reason.

It kind of happens after I eat. but it doesn't really go away so I'm not sure.

Pulltab,
Yes,
The major electrolytes are sodium, potassium, chloride and magnesium.
Were the first three of these within range?
(They rarely test magnesium.)

Have the doctor send you the results of the electrolyte test.

Well It will probably take a week or so for my doctor to get the results sent to her from the lab...then usually if anything shows up in the results they ask you to come in to go over it.... but I have a Dr's appointment in a couple weeks so she will probably go over my bloodwork when I am there.

Do you think my new readings are good now? I think My doctor will be pleased with the readings, i don't think she will want to increase or try anything different based on those readings.

Also is that dosage still considered a "Low dosage" or is it alot?

Well...since I continued to feel strange since my previous posting, I decided to try something. My doctor had perscribed me 4mg Coversyl (ace inhibitor) & 25mg Apo-Hydro (diuretic) together about a month ago and I decided the other day not to take my meds...just to see if it made me feel better again... and I did feel a bit better... out of curiousity, I checked my bp and it was still very good even without the meds. Then today I decided to just reduce my med to half dosage and when I checked my bp it was also fine. I know your not suppose to adjust your medication without your doctor knowing but I am starting to think maybe I no longer need the same dosage...perhaps I don't need the meds at all. Maybe my BP has been going too low sometimes, and that could have been partially why I was feeling the way I have been. I'm not really sure.....So today when I checked my readings it at the pharmacy the first reading was about 131/80, but after the initial anxiety a few minutes later it was 115/72...and a third time it was 115/75 or something. That is normal for me, the second and third readings are always way less, my doc said from now on she is going to look at those second readings.

Good for you, pulltab.

I think we should all periodically assess whether we need these drugs any more, or whether they have lost their effectiveness.
If our doctors don't like this approach maybe, just to keep them smiling, they needn't know. ;)

Thanks!!
Today is day number 2 of taking 1/2 my perscribe dosage. I went to check my bp and on the very first reading it was 120/80. That is awesome to see because usually it I have to wait a few minutes and take a second reading but seeing that low number on the first try made me so happy... and lets not forget this is on 1/2 my dosage. I am looking forward to having my Dr's appoint in a few days so I can show her my results and what I have tried and what the outcome has been. This is exciting times for me. I hope it continues and I'm not really sure if it's too soon to get excited but I think i haven't been as anxious lately and that could be why the change has occured. :blob_fire

Well I'm happy to report that my bp was great again today. The first time I check it was 119/77. Still doing the 1/2 dosage.

I feel so tired too. Been taking 25 mg of a water pill with my avapro and too dark tired to do anything. Wonder if I take half the water pill, I won't be so lethargic. This board rocks for information. Thanks:jester:
