Hi, I just came across this board and I am hoping i am posting right. I have a few questions. I have panic attacks and axiety disorder to start with. I have read thru several post and so many things sound familiar. I have gotten the "rotten egg fart" burps a few times, I get the buring in the bottom of my throat at times (getting it now, which is why I was looking on here, but I also feel that bloated feeling in my stomach, have gas ALOT from BOTH ends and get that tight feeling like you are smothering or being suffocated. Does this sound like Acid Reflux? Having panic and anxiety that feeling like I cannot breathe scares the crap out of me. If I push down on my stomach from the top when I feel like that it seems to help me breathe better?? I also feel at time heart palpitations (I guess) usually in the bottom f my throat like my wind cuts off for a second. I have had Ekg's and all..... all normal... my doc says you can feel that from GERD also???????
Also, like 12 years ago (while I was pregnant with my daughter, I am 31 now) I started getting at times on my left side (like from the dead center of my stomach a few inches over) I get like a sore spot, it isn't like real pain but more a dull pain.... and gets tender, bruised feeling to touch. I only have ever noticed this when I have gas really bad and it usually last for a few days or more. It can also make ya feel a little scik to your stomach feeling. I used to get this ALOT more than I do now, when I ate more fast food etc. It is just uncomforitable and irritating more than anything. When I used to feel it alot I could like make my stomach blow up and you could heard right there in that spot like a blump, blump, blump sound......???? I was told it could be like a gas pocket where you hold gas?? Anyone else get this? I am already a hypochondriac LOL so try not to freak me out!! But that and the feeling like you can't breathe, smothering feelings freak me out the worst.

Hi there and welcome to the boards. Your symptoms could be very much related to GERD, but you really need to have upper GI and endoscopy done to determine that. I find it so upsetting that docs just go by symptoms and give out a PPI prescription, and then pat you on the head to send you on your way.

GERD can cause many symptoms beside the obvious "heartburn." My GERD symptoms were usually: bad taste in the back of mouth, burning in the throat, tightness or pain in the mid-chest region (sometimes felt like a heart attack), and pain/tenderness just below the diaphragm due to severe inflamation of the lower esophageal spincter. Nausea and gas build-up are also common.

See your doctor for a definitive diagnosis; this will help ease some of your anxiety just by knowing what you're dealing with, rather than imagining the worst.

Good luck and keep us posted,
Katie G

I also get that palpating feeling like it is my heart. When this happens It is usually after I eat. I get acid reflux alot. I thought maybe that it was related to the gerd but wasn't sure. Having anxiety can do funny things to the body. I also get that hard to breathe feeling and I am a very nervous person.

Katie is right go to your dr. and get checked. At least for your own piece of mind.

Good luck

It wouldn't be a bad idea to have your thyroid tested to rule that out. You might want to scroll down to the thyroid board to see if any of the other symptoms apply to you as well. Good Luck.

Thanks for all of the advice. I do not have a thyroid problem, had that checked already. Was kinda hoping the anxiety would be a result of something like that so it could be cured LOL....... but anyhow..... He said I do have reflux, but never had the p"official" testing and not sure that I want to LOL... Thanks again.
