View Full Version : Problems since gallbladder removal

I had my gallbladder removed (laser) on May 22, 2003. The original pain is gone, but about a week after the surgery, I developed a new pain along with nausea and abdominal distention/bloating everytime I ate or drank anything. At first I was told to "be patient" and let my body heal but once I hit 6 weeks and things only got worse, my patience began to wear thin. My doctor put me on Reglan (which makes me very sleepy) which helps my nausea but not the disention. The past week I've had regular fevers, and moderate right shoulder blade pain. I will be having an endoscopy tomorrow to see if they can come to a conclusion of what is causing this.

Has anyone else had a similar situation following gallbladder removal?

Hi,
I had my gallbladder removed on July 2nd because of polyps. Surgery went well and I was feeling really good until saturday. It came on all of a sudden(terrible pain in the upper middle of my stomach). It was so bad I could'nt breathe. I thought something had gone wrong after the surgery-but I had taken it real easy(no lifting or anything). Hubby called 911 and I spent 4 hours in the ER-The ER doc thinks it is an ulcer. Would'nt I have had some clue before that if it was an ulcer? For a few days before that I had such a backache. I too feel bloated most of the time(looks almost like I am pregnant). I went to the doc yesterday and he thinks I have a pulled muscle in my stomach and back-he gave me muscle relaxers. He said if that does'nt help to come back. Let me know what you find out. I am still waiting for the pathology results to come back from my gallbladder(worried about cancer becuz of the polyps).
Good luck to you!

My endoscopy was at 8:30 this morning. They found nothing right away, but did several biopsies. I will keep you posted as to my results (should get them early next week). I really didn't think the endoscopy would show anything because that's not quite where my pain is...I'm more upper abdomen, not tummy/esophagus. I typically look pregnant too (which is really annoying since I just lost 25 pounds before my surgery!)

I will pray your results come back cancer free!!
