ive been taking aciphex for 4 days now and it has helped some as im not nauseous upon waking anymore and i dont wake up with that sour taste in my mouth but i still have that acid feeling in my throat. does it take a few weeks to feel the full effects? thanks for any info.
Is that a generic name? I know that the purple pills usually work within 1-3 days(previced, prilosec, nexuium)If these dont work, chances are you may just need prescription zantac instead

no thats not a generic name its just another one of the ppi's. instead of it being of the lanzaprole family like the ones you listed its rabezole sodium. since i posted my question i called the pharmacy and they said i would feel some of the effects of it working in the first 3 days as i have but for the full effect it would take 10 days to 2 weeks. thanks for the reply.

Hello all, I'm dying to get a definitive answer to this question as well, since I have just started Nexium. When I asked my doctor "how long will it take to start working?" he said 4-6 weeks. I took this to mean that it will be at least one month before I start to feel an improvement. Other sources I have seen say that the entire course of treatment is only 4-6 weeks. This obviously means that improvement would be felt sooner. Then, I read somewhere that in people with "atypical GERD," that is, GERD without the most common symptom of persistant heartburn (this is what I have, some heartburn but mostly throat irritation), it could take up to 6 MONTHS on a PPI to start feeling better. Six months before any improvement? Is it just me or does that sound crazy? Also, it said that people with atypical GERD have to take much more of the PPI than those with typical GERD. This makes some sense for my case; the doctor prescribed 80 mg of Nexium a day for me, which I think is higher than usual. I would appreciate any solid info on this, because I seem to be getting different answers from different sources, and I want to know how long I should stick with the Nexium to see of it works. If what I have is not GERD, I'd rather find out sooner than later. Thanks a lot, and hope everyone here feels better.
