Hi,
I have high blood pressure since I was 16 and I'm 24 now, I guess I'm lucky because when my blood pressure is high I feel it. My pulse rate becomes high when my blood pressure is high and also I feel breathless and sometimes dizzy.
As you might know, the normal blood pressure is 120/80 and the high normal is 140/90. Doctors say that after 140/90 you would take medication to control it. So if you blood pressure is 130/85 then you can do many things, other than medication, to control your blood pressure.
Usually, doctors don't put you on medication on the first visit when they find your blood pressure is a little high. They need to take 3 or more readings to determine that you need medication.
Can you tell us your readings are the doctor office and at your home? take serveral readings through the day: when you wake up, in the afternoon, in the evening and at night for 3 days and see what's going on.
Good luck,
Michael

nicki,
Test yourself at home every day at different times each day for 30 days. Make sure you are relaxed and sitting or reclining comfortably for 5 minutes before each test.
Take the average of the 30 days of readings: THAT is your blood pressure.
If over 140/90 on either number, you probably need to treat it. If under...put the tester away and check again in a couple years!
