o.k so i posted a while back about the amount of hair i lost when washing it. Im posting again because im seriously worried about it. Everytime i wash my hair im losing about 60-70 individual hairs. Im only 20 and my hair is fairly short anyway. I mean this cant be normal can it? it probably works out at about 90-100 hairs a day....thats 700 odd a week!!! I don't really notice any bald spots apart from my temple area, im almost certain its receding :(
Should i see a doctor or am i just panicking too much :confused: thanks alot.

a lot of men go bald before they reach 30. but dont fret the average person loses 80 to 120 hairs a day. though you may not be able to tell but new hairs form every day. if your family genetics have a history of male hair loss you might want to prep for it. receeding hair line takes a while. my brother in laws started when i first meet him around 8yrs ago he is turning 30 and it is barly noticeable sorry bout the spelling

Hi, Donald -

I'm not sure if I've asked you before on your previous threads, but are you on any medications? There are quite a few out there that cause hair loss.

hi, sorry i took so long to reply, im not currently on any medications and never have been really. Im still losing alot of hair, in fact it seems to be getting worse. The other morning about 200 came out and i've just washed it and i lost about 150. They just keep coming, and i can literally just pull them out without any force. Its pretty upsetting watching all this hair come out and im 100% sure its not normal. Im pretty sure its not genetics either because both sides of my family have a decent amount of hair even in old age. What do think i should do? Im taking vitamins but they dont seem to be helping. Thanks.

Perhaps it's time to consult a dermatologist.

I had the same problem for a long time. Now i have a couple of small bald spots and hair constantly falling out all day long, even when not washing it. I am not sure what is wrong with me, but i do know that there is alot of things that can cause hair loss including stress, hormonal imbalance, autoimmune diseases ( which can attack your hair follicles), certain medications, etc...... my advice would be to see a good doctor, and not stress about it.

Have you been to the doctor, if not you need to get blood tests, vitamins may not be enough. I lost hair through iron deficiency and it took 2 months of high dose iron before it stopped. Vitamins are pretty low amounts.

I'm not sure that losing that many hairs is "normal". Genetics, medications, chemical treatments, and certain medical problems cause hair loss. Another big one is the low carb, high protein diets. The number one reason for hair loss is testosterone-it breaks down into DHT which causes hair to fall out. You might want to check with your doctor to be sure it's not a medical problem. There are several new products on the market now that help to slow the process, block DHT from forming and even stop hair loss. Good luck!

as with cinderella, i've found out i have an iron deficiency - currently taking supplements for it. Hopefully ,once my iron levels are normal, my hairloss will stop - if it doesn't i'll know im going bald - damnit

Donald Im glad you found out it was an iron deficiency, I found that once I had something to blame it on I could relax about it (which is really important as I suffer from anxiety (pain related) ) I just wish my hair would regrow, I see lots of short hairs but still really thin in one area and its been 5 months since it stopped falling out. Have you found out how long it takes to regrow again.

I was told regrowth takes about 6 months - how accurate that is I don't know. So far the iron has not stopped my hair falling out and I'm starting to get pretty thin in some areas. I also have zero regrowth where they fell out so yeah, it aint looking good.

I know of a product that may help you. It's called Cell Regenerating Scalp Treatment. I have personally seen it help a good friend of mine who is losing hair because of the aging process. I'd be glad to give you more information. If you'd like to email me personally. {REMOVED}

Hair falls out everyday and is replaced on everyone. However, your hair loss seems to be excessive. Does hair loss run in your family? I would consult your doctor, there are treatments you can try for your hair loss.

Good luck!
