I have my nose pierced.. I've had it for maybe a month and a half or two months? Unfortunately I've developed a little bit of a keloid bump.. mostly because my old ring was a screw one and it was harder to clean it inside and sometimes it would get a little yanked. I got it changed at a piercing salon to an L shaped stud and I like it much better. The keloid is there still.. they told me to use Bandaid Antiseptic Wash and to clean it regularly and it would go away in a few days. It has been there longer but did get a little smaller.. and I have had friends it happened to as well (it is NOT infected though) and I was wondering if anyone knew any way to get these things to shrink down quicker?? Any advice would be appreciated.. thanks!!

Hey, I've had my nose pierced about a year, so let's see if I can help.

The BEST way to remove any bacteria, SEA SALT. They should have something called H2Ocean which is purified sea salt and it works, at least it did for me. It's always recommended for piercings. I have use hydrogen peroxide, even though you're not supposed to, but it cleans it out.

I had the same problem, the screw was HORRIBLE...it always did that whenever it got pulled out. It went down in a few days no problem. H2OCEAN is great for cleaning. GET IT.

Thanks a bunch!! I'll definitely have to try this stuff out.. how often do you use it? And is it available at drugstores usually?

I had a sea soak solution for piercings I found online that I was interested in trying.. so I guess just in case I can't find the stuff you recommended, maybe it'll work similarly!

i dont know if you have already tried the h2ocean but i just got my nose pierced back in april and i have the same problem.. the little bump that forms. i used the h2ocean spray for a few weeks after i got it pierced but it started to irritate my skin and dried it out. when i saw the bump form about a month ago (it comes and goes) i tried using the h2ocean again but it actually made it worse than better. i've found that if you just let the bump do its thing and leave it alone it goes away quicker then if you mess with it. who knows though, it could work for you if you dont have sensitive skin like me. these little bumps are annoying though huh? they arnt very attractive either. lol. hope your bump gets better!

I had the same problem many years ago. I decided to try an "ear stud" and things got better. Yeah I know it seems crazy to dig in your nose to take off/ or put on the back. But I like to remove mine while showering, washing my face and applying makeup. Those nose rings are so hard to remove that I think my skin got irritated. I even use the "ear studs" on my monroe piercing. Not too mention alot cheaper than having to buy replacements at the tattoo shop. I have had no infections at all after the switch!

Hope this helps,

Great advice given already. Additionally, I highly recommend getting yourself a bottle of medicinal grade lavender oil (try a health food store or even Longs Drugs). Apply a tiny bit with a Q-tip around the piercing hole after cleaning. Lavender oil is great for healing piercings and should help with the scarring. Good luck. :)

I had a bump on the inside of my bellybutton from my peircing. A professional piercer told me that it would never go away. Either she didn't know what she was talking about, or she was just wrong.

I dabbed peroxide on it like twice a day. Which isn't actually good for a piercing, especially a new one. I had my naval pierced for a few months at this point. Anyway.. the peroxide dried it up, and I ended up picking at it like a scab until it was finally gone. Gross.. I know... but effective! haha

I don't really recommend this... just sharing what worked for me.

I haven't had any problems since. I've had the piercing for 6 years, and pierced the lower half of my belly button about 3 years ago and never had any problems with that one.

The same thing happened when I got my naval pierced. I was told to put tea tree oil on it-- after about 2-3 months it went away completely and I haven't had any problems since (that was 9 years ago).

Since this post I've removed my nose ring... I could not find a comfortable ring for it that was easy to remove! I was doing some volunteer work with children and they did not mind me having the ring, but some children would ask about it and it was easier to just take it out beforehand (looked a bit more professional anyway!). The ONE ring that I could not ever feel was very painful to remove.. it was one of those stick shaped ones with a knob at the end.. so of course pulling the knob through the piercing really hurt! The screw and L shaped ones were just not comfortable for me or would accidentally turn and peek out of my nose.

Hi, all. I had my nose peiced In 2000. I do it for a living in a Hair and Beauty salon. I had a lump/bump in the inside of my nose. (other side of hole) and it turned into Cancer- so be careful, get it checked. And ANY bumps/lumps get checked. it could turn into something.
