Hello, my fiance' and I both have flat feet. And we both work in a mail sorting factory, where we stand for 8+ hours. Well, this serverly hurts our feet. So much so, that we don't go out as much as we used to before this job. We've had this job for roughly a year, and it's killing our social life. We never want to even get out of bed, or get off the couch our feet hurt so badly.

So, please, is there any way to change this? A surgery, specialized shoes, a certain way of standing? Anything?

Thank you for any replies.

If your troubles are "only" from flat feet, (You don't tell us the quality, location, duration of your pain, and after so long, you may have developed other issues.), you will want to start with good quality shoes. Walmart is cool, but I've found I NEED better shoes. Look for walking shoes, or, better, hiking boots. The better ones will have some support, and may save you from having to buy orthotics. On your feet all shift, some cushion in the soles is good. If swelling and/or poor circulation is an issue, look for some support hose. At home, on the sofa, prop your feet up, and use ice to reduce inflammation.
If this doesn't provide relief, go see a podiatrist or foot and ankle doctor, to find out for sure what your issues are, and he/she may prescribe orthotics or tell you what other options you have. Good luck to both of you! Kim
PS! Even at home, wear good shoes. Going barefoot or in flip-plops will only cause more pain!!!
