Hi. I am new to this board and just found it today. I have had a swallowing problem for 3 1/2 years. Have been on all the drugs with the latest one being Nexium 40mg x 2 for the last 1 1/2 years. Have had 3 EDGs (if that is what they are called) with stretching with the latest one 5-12-2003. I had a Motility Study conducted shortly there after and was told I had "Poor Squeezing of the Esophagus". The Doctor put me on "Reglan 10mg 3 times daily two weeks ago. From the first pill of Reglan (two weeks ago) I have developed a cough. Don't know if it is related to Reglan or something else and would appreciate any help or experiences that others have.
Thanks so much
Ken

I've been on Reglan (10 mg 3x day) for about a month now. I haven't developed a cough at all but am very tired since starting it.

I was given a prescription for Reglan but didn't take any because it was given by someone at 9-5 medical clinic. I'm not saying they didn't know what they were doing but no tests were ran and I did some research on Reglan and didn't like what I saw regarding the side effects (possible breast growth in men!). I will wait to see if I am having delayed gastric emptying and let my GI doc determine if I need a prokinetic agent (Reglan).

Thanks for the replies. I have stopped Reglan. I took it for a week and developed a cough, sick feeling and tiredness. After stopping the cough got better and I felt better. A week later I went back on the drug and the same thing happen again. Need to say I will not take that pill again. Don't know if also being on Nexium 40mg x2 (double dose) at the same time contributed to this but not try again to see.

Reglan is the worst medication. Unfortunatly for me it's the only one that does the trick of getting my stomach to empty. I'd say, get on a new medication soon. Reglan is so horrible. Oddly enough, Reglan gives me trouble swallowing. I am so drowsy from it. And the worst is I have developed these ticks or twitches. Luckily it isn't that embarassing because it looks like I'm shivering. Honestly, go on mayoclinic.com and read the side effects of Reglan- they're horrible! I'm trying to hard to get off of it but whenever I lower the dosage I just get sick again...
