The most important test you can do are the fasting and the post prandial (2 hours after eating). The 2 hours after eating (should be less than 140) is very important because it tells how your body handles the food that you have eaten. What it is when you eat is more important when you are on insulin so that you know how much to take.

The fasting numbers sound fine.

Good luck on your test.

I want to add a caution concerning the test. Some doctors tell you to drink the drink and come back in a given time for the next blood draw. If you encounter that do not leave the area. My sister ran into that problem. We knew she was going for a test and tried to call her later to see how it went. There was no answer so we went to see about her. She was passed out on the floor at her house.

It is good that he is doing at least 3 hours. It can take some time for you to cycle through. A person can be high at 2 hours but in another couple hours you could be low. In that way some have been diagnosed and treated as diabetic when it is actually hypoglycemia. That can be a big mistake and hopefully your doctor is wise in that respect.

I agree with the previous poster as to what is important. Glucose tolerance test are being used less and less.

Dealing with glucose problems requires that you know what is going on and keep records. Don't expect a doctor to do everything but expect to be educated to the point that you can handle it.

I hope all goes well tomorrow. I will be watching this post to see how how you are doing.
