Hi all, I've posted before about some pain I was having in my upper right quadrant that went up into my shoulder and between my shoulder blades. I had some blood work done and had an elevated sedimentation rate, 51 I believe, I also had white blood cells in my urine. Both signs of infection if I'm not mistaken. My CAT scan and x-rays revealed nothing. Now my doc is putting me on zantac for 2 weeks. She says it's acid reflux. Here's the problem, I've had acid reflux for 3 years and the pain was never this intense or in the position which I explained earlier. I am also confused becasue of the fact that acid reflux doesn't sound to me like it would raise your sed levels and give you blood cells in yor urine. PLease reply with similar experiences or suggestions
thank you
kristina

kristina,
Sorry about your problems but it does not sound like acid reflux. Blood in your urine is usually caused by infection and the pain sound like gallbladder problems.
I think you need to see another Doctor!!!

Hi there. Ditto for what Harry says. Sounds suspicious for gall bladder - not sure about the blood in your urine however.
Good luck to you,

I agree with Harry on this one. When you say, "...pain I was having in my upper right quadrant that went up into my shoulder and between my shoulder blades." That is a classic sign of gallbladder pain. I assume you doc said acid reflux since the ct scan didn't show anything. Ct scans are great at showing gallstones and diseased organs but I don't think they are 100% accurate (what is?!). I would consider going to another doc too or explain your concerns with your current doc and tell him/her that you want other tests performed. I am getting good at that and I find that if I insist on it that the doc will usually give in. Anyway, what is the doc doing about the white cells in your urine? Sounds like nothing. I believe white cells in urine is a sign of infection somewhere. Did you get a total white cell count? If you have an infection somewhere else besides the kidneys but get enough white cells in your blood stream I believe they can be excreted through your urine. I am no doc and I am stating things that I have read on doctors forums. Use these forums to get ideas on things to say to yur doctor and not to self diagnose. Just my $.02. Take care!

I'm going to bring up the possiblity of gallbladder to my doc. I was surprised that my doctor pretty much ignored my signs of infection. I've been taking my zantac but my pain is worse and occurs after anything I eat. I almost am hoping to have another severe attack of pain so that I can have my doctor see how much pain I suffered during my two "attacks".
