Ive been smoking for years and every time I try to stop, I end up crying. Recently during the day I can go 5 hours and then panic sets in. I cant seem to get past that point and morning are tough. Does anyone have suggestions for getting past that 5 hour mark? If I ever succeed,it will be a great feeling not to be controlled by smokes. suem

Sounds like you may need some additional help. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? You may benefit from medication to deal with the panic and stress. You probably need to also make some changes to your daily routine to disassociate with triggers.

You're here, you have the desire to quit, so you're halfway there. You just need some reinforcement and a better plan of attack. I know that answer is very vague, but it's different for everyone. You need to identify the environments where you're having the most trouble, and come up with diversions.

As far as mornings, do you exercise? If you have the time, you may want to consider a stretching or exercise routine in the morning (I engufled martial arts and meditation when I quit and am in better shape now than I have ever been). Even if it's brief, it will help. Good luck!!! :)

The panic and stress only last a few days. I quit cold turkey a month ago and the first two three days were REALLY hard but I made it. yesterday was 4 weeks on top of that I'm going through a divorce and my son is ever so mildly autistic, so talk about stress. Over this last weekend my mother's idiot friend staying at her place while she's away invited a complete stranger into the house while completely blitzed and this person robbed him, thankfully didn't hurt him or us. needless to say he's out. I told you all this because life is messy with or without the smokes and you can do if I can handle all of this BS without runnin to the smokes you can too. I'll admit I was tempted but didn't do it and I'm exceptionally proud of myself. Next stop the GYM!!!!!
