hey guys..
is this unhealthy...i am kinda obsessed with health but i do eat my share of food..
however..many days i end up eating about 8 pieces of fruit and 3 servings of nuts and one big meal at night such as a brown rice dish or fish, potato, and vegetable..
im often on the run all day and have no time to get anything ot my first thiught is to grab immense amounts of fruits and nuts for protein..
for example..
today:

2 oranges
handful of grapes
pint of blueberries
cup of blackberries
nectarine
apple
pear
strawberries
2 servings almonds
2 servings walnuts
1/2 cup brown rice with 2 tbsp olive oil with 1 cup edamame, 2 cup peas, 1 cup baby carrots

when i add up the calories it doesnt seem super low as my activity level is sadly extremellyy low....
is this an unhealthy way to live?
thank you so much

You are getting lots of vitamins and anti-oxidants. But you aren't getting enough protein. You need about 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight each day. Your body needs those amino acids fix damage and maintain itself. And meat is the best source of protein as it contains all the essential amino acids.

You also need more fat in your diet. Once again, there are essentail fatty acids that you body doesn't produce itself and really needs for ongoing health. Also, IMHO, being so heavily dependent on carbs for energy is not good in the long term. It messes with your insulin levels and eventually leads to type 2 diabetes.

Cheers,

Rosebud,

I agree with Mark. You need to increase your protien and fat consumption. Maybe if you pair the fruits with some form of fish, chicken, or other meat you might be able to meet this need. If you're more vegan, as many people are these days :) , I would suggest eating more legumes (like beans, etc.), as a bean and rice dish are a whole serving of protien, as well as other combinations (which I would have to look up ;) ).

I tend to crave fruits in the summer months, so I know what it's like to want those yummy, juicy foods. It's funny, though, because I have been eating a lot of salami lately (loved this stuff since I was little, anyway :p ), and I normally don't like a lot of heavier things in the summer. I think that I am more aware now that I, too, need to make sure that I eat enough protiens and fats at this time of the year, so I may be hyper focused on it (??). Anyway...

I agree. More protein. Also, where are the green leafy veggies? These are a great source of iron if you're not eating red meat. And, for the fat, fish like salmon has good healthy fat or a little olive oil. And, just my opinion, 9 servings of fruit a day seems a little on the extreme side. Obviously, it's better than cake and cookies, but that's a lot of natural sugar.
