Hey All!!
I just wanted to drop a note with some good news (well for me at least). Yesterday, July 9th I celebrated one month post-op!!!! I can't believe how the time is flying. In my original post about the doctors I messed up the date when I go to get the hard cast removed.. it's actually the 27th not the 29th! It was a good mistake because when I finally figured it out, I was overjoyed to learn I was actually 2 days closer to having the cast removed! So now (after midnight) it's 16 days and counting!!! Wooohooo I am sooo excited! I think I outta have had some cake or something to celebrate the one month, but honestly it wasn't until like 7 pm that I realized it had been a month.
On Sat. I had a slight 'opps', I came home from a birthday party and got tripped up on the carpet in my living room. Once again I landed on my toes on the bad leg. It's been awhile since I tripped up, so I guess I anticipated it happening. I don't know if it was that or something else, but my leg has been bothering me a little since. It's not tremendous pain, although at times it's a real bugger. It just seems to be ache of sorts.
Now on with some more good news. Firstly- I got over my fear of the power carts (Jazzies), and finally got to enjoy some good shopping today! :) It felt good, although I am pretty hard up for cash so I didn't buy anything! hehe..it's just the experience! Secondly- I am finally sleeping straight through the night without my leg elevated. My doc told me at the last appointment the only time I would need to elevate it is when/if my toes looked swollen, but when I got home I found it hard to readjust to sleeping without the body pillow underneath to keep it elevated, finally last night I was able to. This morning I woke up with my body twisted into some weird positions, it made me feel great...like I wasn't so confined anymore! Never thought I would be so excited about sleeping!!!! Lastly- I know I told you all I enjoyed my 4th of July, but I forgot to mention that our town cancelled our fireworks (due to weather..even though it never did rain) so me, a friend of mine, and my younger sister went driving around to find other fireworks. While driving I remembered that there was going to be a great display (I had seen them the year before) at a fair held at Giant's Stadium. My job is as a toll collector and from our building we could see a great view of the fireworks. I told my friend and we drove there. I went in to see my Supervisor and he was soooo sweet, he brought a chair out for me so I didn't have to stand to watch the fireworks! Then I went in to the office to say goodbye to him and he asked me how my recovery was going. I told him that I was hoping to be back to work by mid-august, and he told me not to worry about getting back so fast, just to take time to heal myself properly. I was so relieved, because before this I was nervous that they thought I was taking to much time! :) So now I am happy happy and I hope all of you are too...
Raising my glass (of Orange Juice) to all of you and a wish of speedy recovery!
Happy Healing..
