Just had gastroscopy; found hiatal hernia, gastritis. Doc gave me nexium; taking 2 days now...no help at all. I'm up at 3:00 AM, burning in stomach, aching all over my body, joints & muscles burning; hurting so bad I could shoot myself.

it might take the nexium a few days to a week to kick in, but if it doesnt i would go back to the docs and tell him. theres other reflux meds out there. Im on prevacid and have been for 6 months but now i think its quit working.

I agree to give the Nexium a few days and if you still have problems then asked to be switched to another PPI. Aciphex did nothing for me bt Prevacid seems to help some. There are options out there for you so pursue them. Good luck!

I used to be on zantac, worked pretty good, then they switched me to prevacid it works good too. They might have to switch you around on the meds to find out what works best for you.

The best thing to do is stop eating for a while. Had really bad gastritis in May and I was on an applesauce and rice diet. Give your system a rest.

I have taken 3 or 4 of the aniacid medicine and they all seem to work ok. i still have pain and some acid. But until the nexium starts to take effect when you start to burn have a small non acidy snack, like bread, crackers,a small meat sandwhich.Anything that will fill your stomach enough to sop up the acid.Tums work ok too.My doctor had told me to take a couple of tums or rolaids which ever worked before bed with my nexium. You will know if and how much it works when you forget to take it for a day or two.I eat a snack every few hours all night long. It's a real pain for fasting test the next day.Good Luck
