I have migrains , about 2 to5 a month and cant take the migrain meds that are available because of heart related problems. Is there any thing at all available besides narcotics that I can take? They knock me down for 3 days. I do take Motrin and phenegran, and sleep in a dark quiet room.

Hi Kimbee
I have a Congenital Heart Condition and cannot take Migraine meds either. I am also on blood thinners so cannot take any N-saids or anything with asperin in it.
I am fustrated as well. For now I take Tylonol #3's but they fortunately make me hyper instead of drousy! It they don't work, I take 2 Gravel (which do make me sleepy) and go to bed.
Sincerely, L

I feel for you I get the migraines too but can take the meds.
I would suggest going to a chiropractor, i have been going for months now and I swear it helps.
Good luck to you

I truly belive that mirgraines are a result of something in your body being "out of whack" as I had migraines for 5 years, at least 1 if not more per week. This started to happen after I was in a car accident. (Eventhough I wasn't hurt badly my back and spine were out of alignment. I didn't have insurance and so I never went to the doctors...5 years later I went to a chiropractor and then a physical therapist after I was rear ended in another car accident. Since I have completed physical therapy I have not had any mirgraines since. My heart goes out to anyone who suffers migraines. I too would suggest a chiropractor or alterative therapy... All medications do is rid your migraine for the time. Find out why you are having migraines and get rid of them permenantly!

I take relafen...I think it is a NSAID. That is not so much for my migraines but often my tension headaches turn into migraines. Amitryptiline is used for preventative, but I am not sure if that would effect your heart.
