After having surgery on both feet...I am in the most practical of sandals.
Teva - Merrell, etc...on my good foot. 2nd foot is just two weeks post op.
When can I start wearing pointy toed heels? I know this sounds dumb, but I don't want to cause any damage. I put heels on one day to to try it out and heard some "{crunch" noise from my foot. Can I hurt myself or is it true that bones that healed are stonger than it was before the surgery?

Gee, you couldn't get me to wear pointy toe heels if you gave me Sarah Jessica Parker's entire closet full of expensive shoes! We all have and are entitled to our choice of shoes but for my two cents, I would rather have functional feet in functional shoes. My feet problems are largely congenital on my mother's side of the family, but I am firmly convinced that my decades of wearing pointy toes heels and pointy toe cowboy boots back in the 60's, 70's and early 80's contributed heavily to the increased deformity of my feet. Remember, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA! And the crunch sound does seem a bit ominous. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Well, what was the surgery you had? I had a cheilectomy 3 years ago on the left great toe. This was caused by several factors - the heels being one. That being said, the pointy toes of today are radically different fromt he ones we wore int he 60', 70's, etc. Those were closer fitting with the point angling in from behind the toes. The ones today have a wider toe box - for the most part - and the point is further out front of the toes. The bigger issue is the height of the heel. I really can't wear anything higher than 2 inches. It's the angle that it puts the toe in that causes the problem for me.
And I've found that those cushioned inner soles are a great help for thinner soled shoes. I dance and my dancing shoes are thinner, leather soled and this has made it much more comformtable. Hope this helps.
