Hi everyone
So, I know that I talk about this all the time......but, when you experience twiches/spasms do you feel like your toe moves? It is really worrying me. I probably shouldn't be worried, but since this is a repeat surgery I am.
Can anyone offer any advice?

Liz, I posted about the same thing and it is actually quite painful when it happens. How often do you get it...mine is about 4-6 times a day...usually when I have just put my foot up after it has been down (which at 6 days post op is not too often yet!). I called the doctors office about it and my doctor told me it is quite normal after this surgery. The muscles are trying to move but are being held down or something like that. I have my post op appointment on Thursday and he said he would check it then...so I will be sure to post what he says! I'll try to get the whole picture and let you know!! Sophie:angel:
Liz,
Yep, it is perfectly normal, but believe me, it is not moving. Sometimes even over two years later I will swear my toe moves, but quess what, it's not. I don't remember having pain with mine, but it has been awhile, and lots of other pain since then.

Lizzy~
It is related directly to excess fluid and, to a lesser extent, immobilization. You know our song, "RICE"! It does happen to most of us, and most of our fixations are still intact. I know, it's easier said than done, but here goes anyway, "Try not to worry." If your pain level (except the moment its happening) isn't any higher than it was previous, its ok. If its higher, or you're really in a panic and NEED to know, call the office and ask for an xray. More likely than not, they'll talk you out of it, and tell you it's "normal". But, yes, we all understand you're a repeat, and that would make any of us more determined that nothing go wrong! I'm a first timer, and I freak out almost daily! You're in many thoughts and prayers, and your toe will not move!!!
Sophie, I'll look forward to reading what your Doc says. Mine said, "No, It's not normal, and its not ok. But it happens, you have excess fluid built up, and your muscles are trying to force it out. You'll have to live with it." Even now, with most of my swelling gone, I awaken in the night and early am, sometimes a quick twitch, and sometimes an extended flex that won't release for several moments.

Thank you so much for your replies everyone! I don't really have any pain with mine, it just startles me. I called the doctor's office and moved my appt. up to next wednesday instead of the wednesday after that. They were super nice about it and understand considering what happened last time. I was also more inclined to call today, b/c after taking my boot off I noticed my sock left an indent on my toe and I began to freak out thinking that I ruined it. They told me it was due to the swelling and not to worry about it, but they will xray when I go in next time to make sure.
Thank you again everyone!
Liz
