Do they do a liver count and a thyroid test? And if they do a liver test what happens if your liver count is up, what does that mean?

He's most likely doing routine tests for what ever your symptoms happen to be. They do Regular blood tests to rule out things like Diabetes,Kidney Disease, over active thyroid. They do this because the symptoms can be the same for several diffrent diseases/problems.
I recently had roughly 9 diffrent Liver,Kidney,Prostate,Diabetes done as general blood work. If it makes you feel better all my tests came out fine. It's natural to worry when a doc says it's routine but he's basically trying to hone in on if anything is wrong so he starts with blood tests.
I'm not sure about the liver count thing but I'd say it's a best bet not to worry 2 much and just wait for the results. Don't the mistake of worrying a bunch like I did. :) Good Luck

Thanks for the reply!
I always have "REGULAR" blood work done everytime I go to the DR I think due to my Diabetes. I usually never worry but this time the nurse called me and told me I need to come in soon and talk to the DR. I have an appt for the 24th adn asked if that was soon enough or should I make one earlier. She said that was fine and dont get worked up over this, but couldnt tell me anything else over the phone!!!! I am so worried!!! I cant take off since this is a new job and we are on a point system there. I sure hope this worrying is for nothing!!!
Thanks again!

"Routine labs" usually consist of a complete blood count (rules out infections), a medabolic panel (reports changes in hormones, endocrin organs, ect) lipid profile (cholesterol, both good and bad) , and for diabetics a HgbA1c (three month average of blood sugar levels) . Usually they will request an urinalysis and other tests depending on specifics they are looking for. As a general rule, the most common call back for discussion is related to cholesterol levels, if anything really important is happening they would have ordered other tests, made referrals to specialist or had you in very quickly, however I don't know your particular doctor....., hope this helps.

Thank you for the info. As for the CLevels, we have already discussed thema dn right now that is the least of my worries. However he did say he was going to check my Liver Count to see if it was still high, last one was in Sept. If it was high we would go in and have an ultrasound done and then go from there. I am not sure if this is the problem but boy am I worried!
Thanks again for all the info folks!
