I'm a 28 year old male in good health - about 5'11 and 145-150 pounds. This entire week I have not been able to eat enough food to be full. I have been eating two lunches everyday and am still hungry when I leave work. Other than doing a little additional exercise over the past week, I haven't made any major changes in my diet or activity level. I just had routine blood work done a few weeks ago (before this hunger phase kicked in) for an annual checkup and everything came back normal. What could be going on?

Hi. I suffer from hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Before I got diagnosed the hunger pains used to drive me insane! Long story short, I've since learnt how to eat properly to avoid such hunger cravings. Try to avoid eating anything that has sugar in it...I'm talking about sugars such as candy, soda etc, they will cause huge fluctuations in your sugar levels, therefore leaving you feeling with that empty feeling afterwards. When you eat make sure you eat complex carboyhydrates, such as pasta, healthy bread, rice, but make sure your portions of carbs are not too big, as carbs turn into sugar once in your body, so that's another thing to be careful of, so it is also very important to watch your portions.
The important thing is to mix your carbs with protein, like a Tuna sandwich, or start making some protein drinks from protein powder. They help me alot. Protein mixed with carbs will sustain you for much longer periods.
If you feel hungry stay away from any quick fixes (candy bars, potato chips etc)as you'll only make the situation worse. Don't leave it too long before eating between meals, that is also important. Try to eat at the same times every day, and try not to skip any meals, that will only contribute to your hunger pains and fluctuation sugar levels. You may have hypoglycemia. I'm not sure if you meant you had a proper glucose test or not, but if you haven't I would certainly go to the doctors and request you get one done, then they can help you from there.
All the best and goodluck!
