TriBer Have you had your blood glucose tested lately? It might not be an issue for you but my husband always got these and the doc said this is a symptom of diabetes untreated. Yours might be from something else but its better to be safe than sorry right? ;)

Unfortunately, I have no preventive ideas for you, but maybe you can take comfort in knowing that you're not alone. :) I get those, too, but not as frequently as I get toe cramps. The only thing that seems to work (for me) to get rid of either one once I have them is to stand up. Maybe somebody will come along with a solution.

Try adding magnesium to the potassium you are already taking.my son went thru horrid almost spastic type cramping along with these really incredible contortions?it was really just freaky to watch this and it was really painful for him.we had just found out like a few days before this that his potassium had been low but didn't know about how really really low his mag was.i actually ended up taking him to the ER that night just because they were getting so bad.they ran the usual tests and lo and behold,it was his mag that was the culprit.they started him on mag ox 400,and within one day the cramp/contortions just stopped.he is still on the mag now six years later and has never ever had that happen again.

just try ading the mag and see what happens.if your potassium has been low,for some reason, your mag can also be low.don't ask me why,it just kinda goes that way.let me know how it works if you decide to try it.good luck,FB

Exactly JMII...Im sorry I forgot to put that little tidbit in there for ya TriBer you have to flex your whole foot towards your shin bone...Its what I had to do with my Hunny. If no one is around when this happens stand with your both feet straight, planted on the floor and lean forward until you cant lean anymore a chair usually helps out here or your bed whichever is closer. and just keep doing it till the calf muscle relaxes. If you cannot stand straighten the leg thats affected and pull (from the ball and toes just grabit) and pull towards you also until the pain subsides.:)
