My story is very complicated. My so called migraines started about 8 years ago, actually about 3 months after a minor car accident. They were just sporadic then, but over the next 2 years started getting this weird facial feeling, like a hair or spider web on my face. Now 8 years later, I have contributed these headaches to hormones, meaning they occur either during ovulation or period. I finally havd a brain MRI done in April, everything was normal except for some sinus thickening. I notice that when I get these weird feelings in my face 9 chances out of 10 my left shoulder will be hurting, there is actually a spot on the back of my neck that if you touch it will cause these feeling to appear. But wait, it gets better, sometimes I can't stand to wear a tight fitting top because it feels like there are hundreds of ants crawling under it, drives me insane. I do know that alot of time when I get these feeling I end up with a migraine at least within the next few days. Does this sound migraine related? Or am I just nuts? Anyone out there, please help!!!!

Yes. Hi Jenny actually I do get this and is usually around the time of a period. Anywhere from 7-8 days before to be exact. Its a "dont you dare touch me feeling" lol! Im sorry but it doesnt really hurt its irritated I guess you could say. Is that what you are feeling? Sometimes having pants on gets to be too much for me cause the feeling gets in my legs too. And if you have migraines do you ever have those little moving light balls that you see in your vision? Sometimes they zip across your field of sight...right then I know I am within hours of having a migraine. Also sensitivity to sound. Im guessing it has to have something to do with hormonal changes during that time of month. :)

Hello Cheyenne, glad to hear I'm not alone. The feelings that you get in your legs, are they like what I described? How about your face? Do you get them there also? I feel like I'm going nuts, worried to death that I have some kind of neurological disorder. Migraines do run in my family, my mother, and her dad both have them, so I guess I'm the lucky one, neither of my 2 brothers get headaches at all. I hope my son doesn't take after me. Write back, curious to hear from you. BTW, what is your age? I'm 35, thinking some of this maybe peri, being that my maternal gram went through menopause at 39, nothing provoked this, just plain old meno. My gyn says it skips a generation. Talk again hopefully!!!!!

Well ill join this little club you got going here!
I get them daily..my mother had them and her father did also. I dont ever seem to get the little balls of light though. i was actually thinking mine are TMJ related.
Im going on 16 years of having them. in your case of you saying you have the funny feelings then you know you are gonna get one. well alot of the times i start getting this weird feeling in my neck and i know ones gonna start. feels like a muscle or a nerve feeling. but other times i have expirienced and skin crawling sensation in my head on the same side as headaches normally only when im laying down to sleep. other times it starts in front of my ear and then goes to my left temple and into my eye. a heating pad takes it completely away in about 5 mins ( i just recently found that out) But now im on topamax a second time and have been headache free for 3 days.

Thanks for the reply Worried 1977. I have had the crawling on scalp also, left sided above my ear, this is the headache side, the TMJ thing is what I think might be my problem also. My shoulder and neck hurt alot on that side, but when the hormone stuff kicks in, wow, big time pain, it feels like someone is pulling the muscles off my scalp, and twisting them, kinda a burning, throbbing pain. I'm going to go to PT next week to see if I can get some relief, I take Motrin 800 for mine, and yes, the heating pain is awesome, see some people, like my mom for instance, uses ice compresses, it only makes mine worse. I never tried prescription medicine, although I have samples the doc gave me. Thanks, I'm glad I'm not alone here.

 Hey Jenny. Im 42 (but I tell everyone, "Im 52 Dang dont I look good!") lol Ok its better in person lol! But seriously, yes the feeling in my legs are like what you describe to a T and yes I do get it on my face. And like "Worried" I too get that crawling sensation too! OK now that has got to be the naaastiiieeeeess feeling I have ever felt! If I was paranoid.....Lord HM I would swear there were creepy crawlers under my skin  but I know better.... Ive had headaches since I was little, so much so it freaked my mother out and she took me in to get all kinds of scans on my brain. Nothing showed, I was normal Im just a headache sufferer is all. The migraines ugh! I know when they are coming. I noticed foods sometimes bring it on, also when Im stressed or not moving around alot. (Im a stay at home caregiver.... to my MIL:eek: .... if that tells you something!) The meds they tried to put me on I can not handle them at all (they are like being on anphetamines and I cant stand that at all) So, hee hee, Motrin 600 (800 gives me the cobweb feelings in spades on my face!) to the rescue if its a migraine, tylenol if its not...But thats just me everyones different I just dont prefer the drugged up feeling...never did and trust me I was no angel when I was young I just never got how people enjoyed those feelings at all. But back to subject I just found out recently my Gran suffered from headaches alot when she was young also so I guess thats where it comes from. My mom had no idea, it was my aunt that finally told me this. talk to ya later!

Hi Cheyenne, I too are afraid to try the migraine meds, I don't understand how people can actually get addicted to certain meds, they pay big money to feel that way. I too am a stay at home mom, and yes when your busy they don't seem to bother you. Foods do trigger mine, so does alcohol, and definently stress. Sometimes I wonder about the Tmj thing being that the heat helps mine also. I do have left sided ear pain occasionally, and when the migraine comes on, my ear feels like there is a megaphone sticking out and making all the noise magnified. Certain spots on my neck and back can trigger the facial cobwebs, weird, I guess were just 2 of many "lucky" people who have inherited these wonderful headaches. LOL!!!!! I hope to talk again, maybe the PT will help with me, anything is worth a try I guess. Take care and have a nice weekend!!!!! Jen

Ya know Jenny (hold on.. Tmj is the jaw thingy right?) A few...ok 12 years ago! OMG I feel old lol! I finally gave into braces and it helped a little with my headaches fewer than before thank you very much (made me feel like a school girl tee hee) Only I dont think hunny was too fond of em  :p
Anyhoooo....the mega phone thing yeesh! please could things grate on my nerves any louder?! MIL's voice  PMS all in one shot! (luckily PMS only once in a while) And the nausea?! Trust me the last thing I like to do is yell europe at the toilet! Gives me the chills juss thinkin bout it! YUCK!
I also try not to take tylenol all the time as I actually get kick back headaches to instead I dont know if it'll work for you but sometimes it relieves minor headaches try running cold water over your head (Heat never helped me) I cant remember what got me started on that but I found relief one time an try it everytime before popping a tylenol to see if it subsides the aches first. If it doesnt (and while it is uncomfortable at first with the cold water) it does feel really good afterwards when you wrap your head in a towel I will give in and take tylenol....TTYL:wave:

Hi Cheyenne, forget the TMJ thing, I got this board mixed up with the TMJ one. Forgot for a second who I was writing to. I posted on the TMJ board also today. I'm not nuts, just a little slow, ha ha!! But I do think this has a lot to do with the TMJ thing, for me at least, but I could be wrong, I'm not a doc, just from things that I have read. Take care!!!!!:dizzy:
