Hi. I have a 3 month old boy who was born at 8 lbs 4.8 ounces, and now is 15 pounds. He drinks 4-5 ounces every 2 hours. Is that normal? I'm reading his signals right.I've been giving him water to try to get him to wait, but he gets so mad that I just get the bottle out.and he drinks 4-5 ounces then he burps,I try to give him the bottle after that to find out if he is done and he usually is, but he is hungry 2 hours later. What do I do?

I have 5 month old twin boys that now weigh about 15 lbs. They basically do the same your son is doing. Ever since they were born they eat every 2-3 hours. They generally get 1 oz of breastmilk, then 3-5 oz of formula afterwards. They don't wake to eat overnight, but through the day they are eating every couple of hours.

Yes, my daughter was born 8lbs 2 oz and she eats so much. That's okay, they're going through a growth spurt. Also, there will be a time when they eat hardly anything, don't worry, they just stopped growing a bit.

I always fed on demand, weather is was formula or breastmilk. Babies typically will not overeat.

Healthy babies usually take what they need, when they need and more while having a growth spurt.
Intake requirement is usually 2.1/2 (two plus one half) ozs per LB. body weight over 24 hours.

Formula milk also comes in different strenghts, maybe you could do with changing to a stronger one for the baby, one that will help to fill him up abit more.

My first born was like this and we just added cereal throughout the day-morning and supper time, he was just too hungry and the formula wasn't enough.
hi, my son did this as well at same age and we went to 8oz. bottles and he still did it so the doctor told me to feed him cereal (with a spoon not in his bottle) and he ate like a pro the first time. He was just hungry! After that he went to a 4 hour schedule during the day and sleeping through most nights. I did take it upon myself(at the advice of a family member) to put the cereal in his bottle with formula one night before seeing the doctor and my baby sreamed all night after he drank it. I told the doc and she told me never to do that because 1st of all they can choke and also my son probobly was screaming because it goes in to fast this way and was too much for his little belly all at once like that.
