When my brother was younger (like 10-13 yrs old) he used to panic and freak out and he made his nose bleed by sticking his finger really far in his nose. This always freaked me out (im about 5 yrs younger). It was usually when we were traveling but we always have only takin day trips but et he would still get like this. It stoped all through high school and even since high school he was fine. He is now 24 and just last saturday he did it for the first time after over 10 years. We were at Denny's and were going onto to bristol which is a couple of hours from our house. He had ordered something then he got all panicy and said he wasnt in the mood for that and then changed his order. He had said he wasnt feeling well because he was over hungry. He started freaking out and kinda started to cry and then he started with the nose thing. He sticks his finger in his nose and presses so hard and makes it bleed. After it bled and he calmed down he took a nap in the car and then when he woke up he ate and he was feeling better and then was fine the whole day. Well just yesterday he did it again but it was way worse. He jus kept panicing and made his nose bleed continuously. He has calmed down but he is still feeling anxious and he is acting a little off. I should mention that jus last week he started working out more and also started a protien supplement (we threw it out last night). The reason he was doing that is was because he has been toying with the idea of joining the military and wanted to get in shape for that. Noone wanted him to join but he kept obsessing over it and working out and he felt like he had to join in order to get and education. I think we finally talked him out of the whole military thing yesterday and we also convinced him to not take the protien anymore and just take it easy for a while to see if that helps. What could be trigering this? It is so scary for him and my whole family. Why does he do that to his nose? Has anyone ever heard of someone doing this before? Could the change in diet and exercise be what caused this? Could him going through puberty be what caused it when he was younger??? What should we do? Please any ideas or suggestions would be so helpful.

I didnt realize I had clicked on mens health, not mental health. I didnt know how to delete the other post.

Also I would like to add yesterday he had said that he felt like trapped...and that he couldn't think of anything good. Is that a sign of depression?? He never sounds like that...Im the negative one of the family
