Does anyone take Imitrex nasal sprays or shots? Does anyone else have odd reactions to the migraine meds????We have tried about everything. have been to several neurologist,Md's, and waiting to see a nuersurgeon for neck problems.

I use Imitrex Nasal Spray. I found it works better than the tablets. With the tablets, I had pain when swallowing after taking it and it did not help my headache as much.
I find that every medication I have ever tried has side effects, but it's a toss up on what is worse, the side effects or the migraine.
I waited to long to medicate with the migraine I have now and I am paying the price.

my wife takes Imitrex shots and relpax pills when she has a migraine, which one she take depends on when the headache starts and what she has going on with her time.

the Imitrex works really fast (within 10 minutes), but her reactions to it vary from feeling warm all over to feeling a bit dizzy after the injection for a short time. she always takes the laying down and won't get up until the symptoms pass.

the relpax has fewer of the above side affects but makes her feel really disconnected the next day, not to the point of not being functionall but just really tired.

Hubby usually takes the nasal sprays but thought he would try the shots. THe sprays are $122 for six and the shots were $290. He has been in bed for over a week now. He gets the tightness in his chest and feels funny. He just didn't catch it in time and he is paying also. He has had them 25 years. You know the $$$$ and all the different Dr.'s. One Dr. over medicated and he ended up in ICU. It is a terrible thing (the headaches) I feel so helpless and try to help but don't know what to do. I always feel he suffers more than he has to but all the meds he has been on from the git go has so many side affects he takes nothing except imitrex and darvocet and easy on the pain meds. Seems like a catch 22. He has tried the topamax and it was awful. He was up to 200mg a day. He didn't see any difference. Also took with it prozac and a muscle relaxer. Nothing seem to help.

What is the dosage of your Imitrex? His is 5. I will check and see what others mg's if any there are in the nasal sprays. He has taken four sinceThursday. We had bad storms come thru just as he was starting to come out of a two week HA. Don't think it is as bad as it has been but any HA is bad.
