I have been Long Term Disability for a year now due to upper back pain. Have not been able to work for about a year and a half. I was wanting to try to go back to work doing something that will be able to do, Maybe as a cashier in a grocery store or something easy.
What if i go back to work part time and i work there then maybe alittle while down the road i cannot do the job due to my back pain, what happens with my Long Term Disability check, Will i start getting it again or will i have to apply again for it ?
I am a single lady of 43 and this is the only income i have coming in.
The reason i want to try to go back to work is i am just so bored and depressed about sitting at home not being able to work.
I hope u guys understand what i am going through and can give me some good advise here. Karen

Hi, before I would not consider work just yet, try a very non strenuous type of volunteer work to make sure physically you can work. I don't know for definite, but I think you will lose benefits if you show you can work a paying job. I am sure there are others more knowledgable. I know that before when I had summers off and would get restless I would volunteer to read to seniors at the nursing home or just go around and visit. It really means the world to them since so few ever get attention or visits other than the health care workers! After my grandmother died of Alzheimers, I was so used to going and talking with the other residents that it helped me also to get over my own pain. Hope this helps.
