Hi - I'd really appreciate any recommendations for an excellent rhinoplasty surgeon in San Francisco or anywhere in Northern California, really.
I'm new to this region, so I would be thankful for any wisdom you could pass my way :) Thanks!

I had a consultation with Ronald Gruber who's actually in Oakland. He does revision work and has his own operating room setup in office so there's no hospital to contend with. I haven't had any work done by him but I saw his before and afters which looked good. I've never heard his name mentioned on this site though in the months that I've been visiting so I haven't heard anything good or bad from actual patients, that may be a good thing. I think he's definetely worth checking out especially for someone whos having primary surgery. As you may or may not know a revision rhino PS has experience fixing other surgeons mistakes. If you go see him and/or have work done by him please let me know.

I just had rhinoplasty in Walnut Creek with Dr. Degnan. He's very well-known and a perfectionist. I'm happy so far. I also had lower bleph with Dr. Prescott in Walnut Creek and was very happy. Let me know if you need more info. They both work out of local surgery centers. I was very happy with both centers. Dr. Degnan has very good follow-up and spent the most amount of time with me, talking about the operation etc. He doesn't advertise at all and is all word of mouth.

thanks for the responses!
Angela, i have heard a good deal about Dr. Gruber in fact - he holds positions at UCSF and Stanford if i'm not mistaken, wrote tonnes of articles in rhinoplasty, developed a toolkit, is a hotshot in the field .i've also heard his manner isn't all that personable, but by all accounts he's an excellent surgeon. (although one caveat, he has a preference toward certain long and straight shape of nose - go to his before/after and you may see what i mean). i was thinking of making at least a consultation with him, but his colleague Dr. Friedman (in SF) was already so booked that the closest i could get was late Aug. i may give Gruber a try anyway though.
pnelson, i'd really like to know more about Dr Degnan! and i'm certainly glad you had a good experience with him :)
it's so frustrating...finding a doctor with whom you can agree on a specific set of aesthetic modifications, making sure you're both on the same wavelength there - and then trying to figure out if the doctor in question can actually *achieve* this vision on when it comes down to it on the operating table. anyway, so far, i went to a consultation with a rather well known (but young) SF doctor, & another doctor at Stanford (let me know if you're interested in details). for both of you guys, is there a Private Message option on this board, or a better way to reach you?
