I have hiatal hernia and the doctor who did the endoscopy says it has nothing to do with my symptoms. I've also read in other places the hiatal hernia causes no symptoms. But I've seen people on these boards talking about hiatal hernia and the symptoms of it. Can anyone tell me, is there some consensus on this?

Hi, I had what I thought was acid reflux disease. I have pain in the upper part of my stomach up into my chest. The pain hurts so bad sometimes, I can't stand it. I even get pain in my throat. I had a upper gi done a few weeks ago and the doctor said I had a hiatal hernia, not acid reflux. She said I'll problably have to have surgery. I also have what they think is food particles in my stomach and duodenal bulb. I have no clue to what that means. I hope this helps, keep me updated.

Hiatal hernia can cause alot of pain that sorta radiates. It is located in an area that has alot of nerves that can readly be hurt.

So it seems that some people do indeed have symptoms of hiatal hernia. Harry, what you said about the nerves makes sense to me, maybe that would explain many of the uncomfortable yet vague sensations I have throughout my throat and chest. Maybe it depends on how bad the hernia is. I will definitely ask the doc about this. Thanks all.
