Sponsor Reflux_Jan 09-05-2003, 09:47 PM Hi savanannastar, I am confused as to why you have been told this. Were any other tests taken previously to this one? The gold standard tests for reflux are, PH Study, were a probe is put down your nose and hangs just above your stomach. This is attatched to a small computer the size of a handbag and usually remains in place for 24hrs - 48hrs. This probe will register any acid that refluxes from the stomach. They then look at all the data and come up with a figure, for example 0-4 is considered normal. There is another test now, an Impedance PH study, this measures non acid reflux as well as acid reflux. It also measures bolus movements within the oesophagus. What other symptoms do you have apart from the acid wash in your mouth? |
