Hi,
I have posted a couple of times but not really introduced myself, which is a bit rude . My name is Ambyre (f) and I am from Melbourne, Australia, I am 31 and have 4 kids. My mum (57) was recently told that she had bowel cancer.
My mum will be having an operation to remove the cancer in her bowel as well as her right kidney (damage from stones). They dont know what type of bowel cancer until they receive pathology report after op.
I was wondering if anyone had heard of it spreading to the ureters? They think that the cancer might have attached to her left ureter which they will remove if it has.
Lastly I would like to say thank you to all who post on this board... The word cancer has always struck fear in me but reading through alot of the posts has been very inspiring and empowering. You are all amazing.
I wish all you happiness and healing.

Yes, others here have reported that bowel cancer can spread to the ureters. If I recall this is more prevalent with females than males but I could easily be incorrect on that.
Cancer is a scary word, no doubt about it. Those who have experienced are always looking over their shoulders(so to speak) wondering if that twinge is a sign of its return. That lessens a bit as years go by without a return but I doubt it will ever go away completely for all but the very strongest willed persons.
I don't think of myself as amazing, amazingly lucky to have been hit by that cancer bullet and survived with few complications, though if I were truly lucky I would still have all my original parts. Certainly not a soul here would have chosen to be in the situation they are in vis-a-vis cancer. We all deal with it the best we can, the alternative is to give up. There is no running away, fighting is required. I think that those who do simply give up (and i know some do) won't be posting here.

Hi my name is Kathy and the first time this happen to me was 3 years ago. Will first of all I started feeling pressure when I first wake up in the morrning and I would have to run to the toilet and still do and then one morrning I past blood. Mounths would go by and I would foget about it intil next time. This has been going on for 3 years. Now it happen to me two weeks ago again but this time I saw this clear pinkish color matter floating on top so I took toilet paper and it came right up. I looked at it real good and it was clear to see white raised up bumps all over it. Like tissue. My blood has been spraying out the last four times it's happen. This has been going on for 3 years and I didn't get check because I don't have insurance and they will only refere you to a doctor for this which I could not pay for. I'am saving up for insurance right now so I can go and get checked. Has AnyOne had the same thing happen to them?

Hi Kathy,
I am sorry that you are having this problem. I really don't have any answers for you. Most gastros will allow you to pay out what it cost to do the proceedure. Bleeding is never normal, but it doesn't always mean it is cancer. The longer this goes on, the worse it is going to get, whatever it is. Please check with the gastros in your area and see what their policy is on pay out the bill.
I will keep you in my prayers. Let us know what you find out.

I hate this waiting. I have to wait intil I get insurance to go to the doctor. Without it they won't really run test to find out what is wrong with me. I will start saving up for it now. Anyways if I did have something bad wrong then I would never get anyone to insure me.
