During your cluster attacks an ice pack on top of your head & daily naps will make things comfortable.
Good luck:angel:

wHello, Eclipse
I'm new to the board, but I have suffered w/ migraines most of my life. I have taken any form of medication known for preventing. during, and after for migraines. I'm now 40 years old. I was a very busy, career person, w/ a family. I am now disabled.
The past two and half years Chronic status migraines daily. They are from the low level to the ungodly -nonfunctional.
What helps me.
- I know this sounds crazy, but for me forget the icepacks, I fill a very large bowl (large enough for you to stick your head in) w/ ice and then water.
During my worst migraine I will plunge my head in the ice as long as I can stand it and pull my head out. I do it a few times until I can get the pain back in control. It shocks my head and allows me to breath for a few seconds w/o wanting to die, allowing me the time I need to think and or take meds w/o vomitting.
- For the constant pain behind either eye: which ever eye is bothering me I will wear an eyepatch until the weird lightning, blindness, zigzag lines, short circuit show goes away.
- I have forced myself to practice Yoga, meditation, visualization and this has helped alot. (This has taught me to listen to my body for triggers, or any changes which may indicate a migraine)
- I have tinted every window in my home, no direct light from the wonderful Sun
- Lights are all low level lights and are always behind me.
- Sounds to an absolute minimum, I will wear earplugs if it is a must.
- Drastically changed my eating habits
- Peppermint Oil, Eucalyptus Oil Spearmint Oil, Lavender oil (a couple drops) mixed w/ aloe vera gel refrigerated at all times. Thus I will put on a wet cloth and over my head or face and this helps.
- I have sore spots on my head that I massage that will help with the eye pain.
- I never leave my home without curved around face Extremely dark sunglasses (extra pair in backpack) and a hat.
- For the hard rock muscles in my neck and shoulders I will get massages weekly and when at home whatever side is aching I will lay on towel or mat in relaxation position and place a tennis ball on the muscle that seems to be in most pain until it releases.
My migraines have not gone away, but I have learned to control my breathing, which has helped my pain tolerance level increase to an abnormal level. My neurologist (third one) says there is nothing else he can do!!!
I have good days and bad days. I focus on what I can do on any given day and attempt to see the positive.
I hope this helps!!!
