DS is 21mths old and does not sit in the cart for more than 10mins and if we put him in the stroller he cries. As soon as we get to a store he wants to get off and walk/run all over the store. Its become impossible o do any shopping and we have to be out of the store in 30mins. Plz anyone has any suggestions how we can keep in the cart or stroller so we can peacefully do some shopping. BTW if we find one of those carts which are like cars then he would sit in it with no problem.Plz help!

I don't know what to tell you to keep him in the cart. I will tell you that I went through the exact same thing with my son at that age. For about a year I didn't take him to the store because it was always a nightmare. Just giving you hope that he will grow out of it. I just did the big shopping trips durring times that my husband was home to watch him.

i understand totally how you feel, i have a 2 and a half year old who is excatly the same. what we tend to do is go to the magazine part of the store and get her a childrens magazine so while she's sat in the trollley she can read it as we are doing our shopping. or maybe take a favourite toy with you for them to play with, they tend to act up mostly when theyre bored. hope this helps

Have you ever considered just one of you doing the shopping while the others stays at home and watches your son? Or if both of you absolutely need to be in the store together, perhaps a family member or a friend could babysit the child? Some stores don't have those kiddy-cart things that look like vehicles because they're so huge and awkward. Bringing along something for the child to play with or read would be worth a try, but if this doesn't work either, I strongly suggest having someone baby-sit Junior while you do your shopping. Not only is this frustrating to you, but it probably is as much or moreso for other shoppers within earshot.

Its good know all kids go threw it. I will try the magzine option and see how it goes. He does not really have a favourite toy right now but i will take some toys and see how he does or else just go by myself. Thanks for your suggestions..Any more will be a great help!

I would also try bringing a snack and a drink. I notice my kids have a hard time shopping if they're hungry. Make sure you're taking him out at a good time in the day for him. Make sure he's not ready for a nap right before you leave. Also, involve him in your shopping. If you're grocery shopping, just talk to him about stuff, like what you're buying, or just things you see around you. Count things with him or have him help you look for things like help mommy find your favorite juice or something like that.
