On February 8th 2006 I had a skin temporal lift. The scars are still pink and some of the scar is white. Can anyone tell me how long it will take for the scars to fade. My PS said it could take up to a year. I'm not too happy with the way the scars look. The PS said he could do a scar revision. Has anyone ever had this done and how is it done?

I don't know anything about skin temporal lift but I had breast reduction the first of Feb. and they told me to use Maderma which is Awesome:blob_fire ! I had a scar revision done June 12 it was nothing to it. and the scars that wasn't fading the way we wanted is looking really good now.:) It was worth it I think.
I don't know if I helped you any but Good luck

Thank you for the reply. It gives a glimpse of hope. How is a scar revision done? Is it done with another incision to correct the first one?

It is done with another incision but it is a small one that follows the old ones it is not rearly as deep and heals alot faster. The next day I wasn't even sore. And it did help ALOT!

I had my upper lids done in May 2005 and STILL have red scars. MY PS told me in September that everyone heals differently and that his scars stay red for a long time. Then he just said to come and see him in a year!!! I am NOT happy with the redness nor am I happy with his response. I really don't know what to do or if I just have to live with this.

I'd love to get a breast reduction and lift but now I am very afraid of the scarring.....

Best of luck to you in getting your scars to fade.

Secretsarah.... I had my reduction in Feb 06 you will have scars no way to avoid it but mine under my breast and around my nipple and the one down to connect the line under my breast are a white scar around my nipple you can barely see the only ones that I have that is still red is the ones on my side because they are wider because they had to remove alot of skin and tissue.Don't be afraid of the scars if you are having the problems i was the scars are worth it.
Good luck

secretsarah I am with tami on this one...no matter what surgery you have done there will always be scarring. However if you have a good plastic surgeon you wont have bad scarring...my doctor does this technique where he uses a surgical tape that works like dissolvable stitches so there is minimal scarring for his patients. I have not had my surgery yet but knows someone who had one about a year ago and thats we he did 4 her and she is happy with her results. I am actually having my breast rduction done this Tuesday morning and wont know how bad the scarring looks for a week so I will post then and let you know how bad they really are! Good luck with whatever you decided and dont be scared to get the reduction it really will be for the better scars or not!

MinMin24.... Good luck with your surgery I know you will be happy with it.
My Dr. also used disolvable stitches and it did really well my worse scars are on my side and it is just taking longer for them to fade..
again Good luck to you and secretsarah

When you have your surgery it is going to look nasty (well it did to me) it is going to have some drainage I put on plenty neosporian so the gaze didn't stick to the cuts because take my word for it you don't want that to happen  and changing the dressing is alot easier if you have someone that will be around to do it for you. I also found the surgical bra annoying but it was support for my breast and it helped to keep them from the vibrations and moving when you are up walking so it didn't hurt as bad.and the first few nights is going to be kinda hard ( i was use to sleeping on my stomach)Mine really started looking better after about the first week everything started closing up and healing and the sleeping thing even got better by then too. I am trying to remember everthing that went on with mine so you will have a good heads up on what to expect I went in not knowing and had to find out all for myself but everybodys is different. The good thing I see for you is you are going to stay in the hospital the night of it, I had mine and had to ride 2 1/2hours home  and the the pain meds did not good for mississippi highways!!!! LOL
Please let me know how your surgery goes when you get back up and on your feet the first few days your not going to have much energy so take you time relax and sleep.

tami I am back from my surgery... I just had it yesterday and had to say that the pain is nothing like I thought it was gonna be. I havent taken pain meds in over 24 hrs and what not. The only discomfort I have is from the bandages...they have me wound so tight that the pressure is causing some discomfort but thats it. I am finding it hard to sleep as I was primarily a stomach and side sleeper and now have to be on my back...I am a lil crabby but think that has to do with the sleep deprivation. I go back to the dr on the 31st ( Monday) to have the dressings off and to be put in to my surgical bra..which I am looking forward to because anything has got to be better than the dressings that are wrapped so tightly. I am a lil excited about seeing the dressings off and seeing my scars... I know that they will still be a lil grusome but atleast I can kinda get a idea of what to expect. Thanks you for your story and kind words throughout this whole process as it helped confort some of my anxieties...oh and secretsarah it would suggest the surgery as I can see the difference already and am sure to be pleased with the final results. well here is wishing you all the best no matter what u decide...well I am little tired so I will write more later!

Hey I am so glad you did well :blob_fire I know in a month or two you will be so happy at what you see and how you feel. I was like you didn't need the pain meds so I didn't take them but I got crabby too from no sleep so I took them at night so I could get some rest and so my husband wouldn't kill me :D . Your dr. did different than mine but they all do different stuff. They sent me home with a surgical bra and bandages but not wrapped around me. I got to see what I looked like the next day when I took a shower and changed my bandages.
I just went back to my dr on monday he released me to full activite but like he said he knows I have been doing what I want since the surgery. They gave me a copy of my before and after pictures  I don't know how I carried them around. I have to go back in 6wks he wants to make sure my scars are healing like he wants and make sure I don't have to have a scar revision one the other side.
But I am so happy for you just wait to the swelling goes down and you put on the small shirts and see yourself be sure to take pics in different clothes I did and I love to compare before and after. If you don't mine me asking what size was you and what did you go to?
Well I will check back in with you tomorrow and see how you are doing take it easy enjoy getting waited on because it don't last long :)

tami...I haven't been being waited on as I hate that feeling. I can get up and do small amounts of household chores..minor of course. However I still find myself getting tired rather easily. Today I actually had to get up and get dressed and go out..a friend of mine's father had just passed and they had the Wake today. I was able to get dressed all by myself and walk around and what not but after 3 hrs I was pooped and ready to go home. I am having a rougher time today than I had yesterday. I am not in pain however over where I live it's hot and humid so all my bandages are stickin to me and itching excessivly. I just want to take them off and itch the hell outta them. I wish that my dr would of let me have my surgical bra as well as my bandages and allow me to shower. I am only allowed to sponge bathe and have to be in these same bandages until monday when he takes them off. I can't wait to see how they look and really get to see the size because right now I am as flat as a pancake thats how tight they have me wrapped. On the plus side I was finally able to get some rest the other night.... I must have been so sleep deprived that it finally caused me to get to the point where I would just pass out. Oh and to answer your question tami I was a 40 G and was reduced down to a C cup or so I hope. They took out a lb and a half out of each breast or 900 cc's. Well I am hoping to return to work in another 2 weeks .......restricted workload of course. Well I am a lil tired and need to try to get some rest...I will post more when I am not as tired....well hope you are doing well...take care

Hi I am like you I didn't like the idea of being waited on (I am really hardheaded do what I want to and if I am not suppose to it just gives me more determination to do it anyway LOL) but I really enjoyed the exta attention from my husband I am a wife and a mother to a 6yr old and it always seems that I am the one giving all the attention and always go go go and very rarely getting any help back but I am not complaining I love my life. OH on the HOT and HUMID part I know all about it I live in South Mississippi and it is HOT!!! that is why I had mine in Feb so it would be cool outside and when I did go outside I didn't have to worry about getting hot.I am glad you are doing well and I know you can't wait till Monday.
When they did my surgery they took 5lbs off!
Well GOOD LUCK on monday I hope you like what you see.

Tami- Sorry I didn't get back to you I didn't even see that you posted. I am doing good really moving around alot more. I have been shopping, to the zoo and whatever else I can do. I finally have the dressings off and let me tell you they feel good....I can already feel that the pressure in my back, neck and shoulders are gone. I had them remove the bandages a few days early as I was having an allergic reaction to the tape.... now I am having an allergic reaction to the sutures so hopefully Tueday when I go see him for my 2 week post-op visit he will take them off. Oh and I stand corrected about how much was taken off....I had a lil over 4lbs taken off..........you can feel the difference. I am going back to work on the 14th which is about 3 weeks post -op for me. well I am gonna cut this short as I wanna head on out to the gym....I just mainly run the treadmill for now......have a nice rest of the weekend
