I am 6 wks post austin bunionectomy, complete with pin. I still have quite a bit of pain and swelling, but I know the swelling is normal. The pain, in the affected joint area and in the bottom of my foot, however, still requires 600 mg advil at least 3x a day. I've done everything I'm supposed to, worn the boot 24/7, worn the toe splint to keep it straight while it heals, but there's a feeling in the back of my mind that something's not quite right. I'm scheduled for pin removal (ugh) this Fri. and the pin is probably causing some of the discomfort, but am curious about whether the pain is still at an acceptable level?

I hate to be a weenie and call the dr. and will see him on Fri., but interested in knowing others' experiences. I WILL however, totally flip out if this pin doesn't come out and I can't wean myself out of this blasted boot.

Thanks for any ideas.
