View Full Version : Painful injection

I started Humira injections 2 months ago for my RA and they have helped me immensely. The only downside so far is the injection of the medicine itself. I don't even feel the needle, but when the medicine is injected it burns like crazy. Is this just a part of the process or is there a way of easing the burn?

Has anyone else had this problem?

:blob_fire I have problems with that also. I was told to apply a icepack before injecting. It does seem to work for a short time but still ends up burning and hurting before completion. Do you sit it out for the 10 minutes? I also have site reactions, so i have to take a benadryl 30 minutes before injecting. I was hoping for a " feeling great" response but instead just a small improvement so far. (4 mons) Hope this has helped some.

Hey, thanks for the reply countrygal. I set it out for 30 minutes prior to injection. That is what the pharmacy suggested to get it to room temp. I haven't tried the ice pack, but I definitely will next injection. Humira has really helped me. A ton better than I was 3-4 months ago. I guess I can put up with the massive burn for a few seconds every 2 weeks rather than the daily pain I was in.
