My doctor told me it sounded like I had esophagus spasms. I have pain directly in the middle of my chest sometimes into my back, its like a severe pressurelike pain. Its kind of scary. I have been having this frequently and she said to continue taking Prevacid which I do because I have acid reflux. It doesn't seem like its helping though, is there anything else I can do and does this seem like spasms, any any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I have had the exact pain you described. I was diagnosed in February with Barretts Esophogus. I was prescribed proton pump inhibitors but the one I was taking originally did not work too well. My doctor has just updated my medicine and I am now taking Esomeprazole 40mg one per day. This seems to be doing the trick. I am due to have a follow up endoscopy in two years time! Health service not so good over here! Incidently, I live in the UK, so I hope you are able to get the medicine you require. Good luck and I hope you keep well.
