View Full Version : One year or more post-op opinions?

I read all the posts and am still ping-ponging about being in the midst of hammertoe and bunion surgery. First foot done 7/5, second to be done on 7/26. Just wondering what the people who have had that kind of surgery a year or more ago feel. Any regrets? Generally happy with the outcome? Continuing pain? If you were just making the decision now, given what you know, would it be to have the surgery? I see comments about second and third and fourth surgeries, scar tissue, pain, etc. and start to wonder about the long-range outcome. I know everyone heals differently, but what is the general feeling of the group?

MKL ---

Just remember that - for the most part, once someone is well on the way to recovery, they are now too busy to be on this board very much. I'm poking around for the first time in a couple of weeks, just bc I had my final post-op check up today. and realistically, I suspect this may be my last visit. This board was very helpful...people are terrific, but between work, and home, and the boat, and camping, and dancing...etc..- somethings gotta give...and the logical thing is to quit spending time on this board. That also means that those who stay, are generally those who continue to have problems...so you're getting a bit of a skewed view.

btw, i'm about 3 1/2 months and 3 mnths post op chevron and aken procedure with dissolving pins, on both feet. I'm still having a bit of occasional pain...usually caused by very hot days, or very stormy days (or overdoing it!!)...but i don't have any of the impossible aching that i had pre-op. i am so glad i had this done, i have no regrets about the timing of the two operations, or the doctor, or the procedures themselves -- and i'm not yet 100% (which i'm told should come at about 6 mos).

good luck on your 2nd foot...good luck on continued healing of your first foot...and hopefully - like me - you won't be anywhere near this board, in a year.
