For those who breastfeed, are you finding that your diet effects your baby? There is so much conflicting information on this. Some things that I read say to stay away from certain foods, but then my peds say that unless it's a huge amount of a certain food that it shouldn't effect the baby. Ds has acid reflux and I'm trying to figure out if certain foods in my diet make it worse. What have you guys heard and/or experienced?

Hi. I breastfeed and my DD is allergic to milk. If I drink /eat dairy products she reacts to them because the proteins pass through in the breast milk. However, apart from that i've not noticed anything in my diet having an effect on her. I believe reflux is usually because the muscle at the top of the stomach is a bit underdevloped and it should improve naturally as they get older.

Hi! Yes DD is nearly 1 now and we only found out she had a dairy allergy when we started solids. She'd always had excema and been sick after every feed (I breastfeed) but she was putting on weight fine and was happy so the doctors weren't worried. Then one day I gave her yogurt and she was horribly sick and came out in a awful rash that started where the food had touched her skin and spread across her whole body. They say yogurt is the least likely dairy food to cause a reaction so since she can't tolerate that we haven't given her any at all since. however we've been advised to try again when she's a year old but I'm just going to put some on her skin and see if she comes out in a rash.

For me, the only thing I noticed was caffiene. I could drink 1-2 cups with no affect on DD. Anything more than that, and DD was wired along with me.
DD had colic in the early months, and I worked really hard with my diet. Nothing else had an affect.
Thanks ladies! Those of you with babies allergic to milk, how does your baby react when he/she gets it through breast milK? Do they usually outgrow it?

My DD's excema flairs up and she gets sick. It doesn't seem to upset her though!
I've been told that most outgrow it by the time they are 3years old. We been advised that if she reacts to milk at 12 months to try her again 6 months after that and again 6 months after that and so on. If she's still reacting to milk at 3 years old then she'll probably be allergic to it her whole life.

Ds seem to really spit a ton and really thick too after I eat dairy. Do you think this could be a dairy allergy? It's not breaking out in a rash or anything that obvious, but it really seems to effect him.
