Hello,
Last time I was on the board is was for my friend Justin. He has been having seizures for about four years now. Within the past year he has been having delusions or psychosis. I believe its called post ictal psychosis. Anyway he has been prescibe resprial after the clinic committed him to a mental institution twice because they didn't know the psychosis was caused by epilepsy. After seeing a specialist he was given the right drug.

But by the time he was given the resprial he was pretty confused and he didn't take it, he would secretly spit it out.

Last week Justin left the house and was gone for four days before he contacted his family from a hospital. He had been picked up by the police in a confused state and he resisted arrest.

After being released about a week later he spent the night at my house. I noticed that he would be wide awake whenever I woke up through out the night. At about 5am I woke up and he was laying down but still awake at about 5:30am I woke up and he was gone. I ran outside looking for him and couldn't find him. I drove around about an hour and still couldn't find him. About an hour later his father called me and said he knew where Justin was. He was at the hospital. He had been walking around the neighbor hood and the neighbors called the police.

Now his parents have given up on him. They decided to put him in a group home.

Can anyone tell me when I will get my best friend back? What is going on?

Still sounds like the onset of schizophrenia to me- age is right, symptoms sound consistent...but meds can help, and a group home can make sure he gets them- many do very well if they stay on their meds. But, I'm no MD, so can't be sure....just seen a lot of people who have had this problem.
